I am building a timberframed house and need/want to light the two story vaulted ceiling/timbers. I prefer not to use large spot lights, but rather small unobtrusive halogen floods or possibly even rope or strip lighting placed on top of some of the timberframe members. Any ideas? Thank you.

I would stay away from flood lights due to hot spots and unsightly shadows.  Using a linear light source will put a beautiful glow on the ceiling as well as highlight the timbers. We have two products that are suited for your application.  We have a pearl white rope light that is small, inexpensive and very effective.  Click Here to see rope lights!  You can run two switch legs with individual dimmers and use a combination of white and blue rope light for some fun mood lighting.  We also have our Phantom Light Strips which are designed for higher light levels and low maintenance.  These products are low voltage and require the use of a remote transformer and magnetic dimmer control.  Click Here to see the Phantom Light Strips!  Hope this helps!
