uplighting for trees

My husband and I have just moved into a home we had built in Florida. We asked the electricians to install 8 lights to shine up into 8 palm trees on our lot. The lighting fixtures look like the old fashioned spot lights that are on the corner of a lot of homes to illuminate the yard, but each one of these sits on a post shining directly up each tree. The problem...each time it rains, these lights blow because the lamp base fills with water. I have been told that these are the "worst" lights to uplight trees and we should have "well lights" which are designed to stay lit, even in rainy weather. Is this true? Help!

Sounds like you were sold fixtures that are not designed for up lighting in wet locations.  They should be well shielded to minimize glare and at the very least have a lens to protect the lamp.  We have many quality choices for you to consider so, let's assume that you are using a standard 120-volt PAR38 lamp on each Palm tree.  Here are three choices: Bronze colored bullet, Green colored bullet, and a copper fixture designed for harsh enviroments.  All of these products are in stock and ready for immediate delivery!
