do i need a transformer for the light if i hook it up to the current coming from my home?

Most residential grade underwater lights operate at 12 volts and do require a low voltage transformer.  If the light bulb is a MR16 lamp that is definately the case. Click here to see a good low cost solution to your lighting problem..
