I am looking at under the cabinet and over the cabinet kitchen lighting. Which type of lighting is best for under the cabinet task lighting flourescent, halogen or xenon? I have been told that halogen was a better look, but flourescent doesn't cast shadwos. For over the kitchen cabinet which is better flourescent or rope lighting? Can you change out a burned out bulb that is in a rope light?Thank you.

FLUORESCENT is the best and softest light source for a task lighting in a kitchen, breakfast room or butler's pantry.  It has good lamp life and produces very few shadows and heat.  For the most part, it can't be dimmed which can be a problem if you require lower light levels for entertaining.

HALOGEN LIGHTING and XENON LIGHTING  are very nice light sources but they do cast harder shadows and produce more heat.  The fact that you can use a LUTRON DIMMER CONTROL on these light sources makes them perfect for parties and entertaining.
