Each installation is unique and it is generally preferable to have a choice of hole sizes in the medallion you buy. A larger ceiling medallion is much easier to install with a 4" center hole. On the other hand, you may choose to eliminate the canopy supplied with your lighting fixture and use our ceiling medallion with a 1" center hole.
Most Arctel ceiling medallions can be ordered with no hole, or Arctel will custom drill a 1" or 4" hole as needed at no additional charge. Check the catalog for the hole sizes available on each product.
If you are installing a ceiling medallion over an electrical junction box, easy access to the electrical junction box is the primary consideration. The National Electric Code requires access and the 4" hole option available on most Arctel products meets this requirement. This allows you to simply install the medallion with adhesive and perhaps a few screws. If you use a medallion with a 1" hole, then you must make it removable and it should not be installed with adhesive.
