Lighting Designers & Lighting Design

A lighting designer is a technical expert with a high degree of lighting equipment product knowledge and advanced training in photometric calculations and software design. Your lighting designer takes the raw data that pertains to your facility and industry type and inputs that data into advanced software platforms. This software then calculates the necessary lighting levels and renders three-dimensional models of the proposed lighting system.

This allows you to actually experience what a new industrial lighting system would offer you before actually buying the equipment. You can then either purchase the design from us or have a local contractor source your equipment. Or, you can buy the equipment from us too and pay your contractor only for the cost of labor. We reimburse you the cost of the photometric if you obtain your industrial lighting fixtures from us.

Look at case history to gauge the experience level of your lighting design consultant. Previous projects and case studies on a website can give you a very clear picture of level of precision and skill when it comes to building turnkey commercial lighting systems for our clients.

Since 1985, Residential Landscape Lighting & Design has applied and mastered the art of lighting and design concepts in the following areas:

While universities do not offer a degree in lighting design per se, a good lighting designer should have some type of hands-on or academic training in either electrical design or interior architectural design. Knowledge of building interiors and wiring is very important because it directly correlates to understanding how light will disperse within a particular type of structure.

It is very necessary too that the lighting design specialist be a problem solver by nature. Clients come to specialists like ours because they have problems that need to be solved. The designer must be a solutions finder who can come up with new ideas through in-depth consultation with the client and analysis of facility data.

Software training is the final piece in the lighting designer’s skill set. Design software is complex and requires a high level of expertise to master. The accomplished lighting designer should be able to take an overhead plan of your building, along with an AutoCAD representation of your current lighting system, and therewith generate photometric layouts and models for your consideration.

You can expect a turnkey designs and system solutions when you choose Residential Landscape Lighting and Design as a single vendor. We will provide you with the layout of your system and all the necessary lighting fixtures and accessories. We will also help you find an electrical contractor to install it if you do not already have one.

You can also expect to save money this way. You will get a precise number of fixtures to meet your needs—never more than what you need. All of our products are made in the USA and have been engineered for extended lamp life and maximum energy efficiency.

Industrial Lighting Design & Designer Lights

So what is industrial lighting design?
Industrial lighting design is the systematic analysis of your lighting requirements and the cost effective planning of your lighting system. Our photometric software helps us determine exactly how much light you need in every part of your facility, how many light fixtures you need, and where your light fixtures need to be mounted in a warehouse lighting project for example.

Do I have to pay for a photometric plan?
You only have to purchase it if you choose to buy your lighting fixtures from someone another commercial lighting supplier. Otherwise, the cost of the industrial lighting design plan is credited back to you and deducted from your equipment invoice total.

Is this photometric plan truly necessary if all we need is basic office and task lighting?
Absolutely. Without a commercial lighting design, you could very easily end up buying more actual light fixtures than you need and having too little or too much lighting as a result.

An industrial lighting design makes equipment purchase precise, cost effective, and truly efficient.

Do you need anything from us to create this plan?
We need blueprints of your building and any AutoCAD drawings of you existing lighting system. We upload this data and use it to not only map out your lumens requirements, but to actually render a 3D model of your facility as it will look with new equipment.

What level of quality can you guarantee if I do buy the equipment from you?
Everything we sell is made in the USA. We work only with the nation’s top industrial lighting manufacturers. The commercial decorative lighting products we sell are designed for maximum energy efficiency and lamp life. They may cost a bit more on the front end compared to imported fixtures and retail grade equipment, but they pay for themselves in the long run by using less power and reducing replacement costs.

The intention here is to shine more light on the room with less electrical usage. We also identify the best possible lighting angles to determine where fixtures need to be mounted. Once we know this, we will know exactly how many new office lights you need, what type of lights work best for your application, and where your electrical contractor exactly needs to mount them.

What if I have an equipment vendor already and can buy the same fixtures you recommend from them?
You do have that option. Just make sure your vendor really is selling you the very best equipment on the market. Also, make sure that your parking lot lighting system is fully warranted as is ours. We will still produce a photometric plan for you for a reasonable fee, and if your vendor and/or electrical contractor requires our assistance, we will also offer industrial lighting design consulting services for a fee.

Industrial Lighting & Commercial Lights

It is important that companies come to Residential Landscape Lighting and Design for photometric layouts lighting equipment. Residential Landscape Lighting and Design works as a retail, design, and consultation firm for all commercial lighting needs.

Our expert commercial lighting design team has over 50 years of combined experience. Our entire support staff is domestically based, and every one of our products is made in the United States. We have access to the very best industrial light equipment in the US. We will configure the entire system with a firm, total cost we will stand behind, and we will ship the equipment directly to your location.

After it arrives, if your local lighting or electrical contractor requires our partnership or assistance, we offer consultation services to ensure the equipment is installed and operates correctly.

To generate the correct level of industrial light, we must look at several things. First, we have to determine the type of facility we are lighting. If it is a new facility, we need to get an idea of what the tenants will be using the facility for. If they will be incorporating skylights, we have to make adjustments for a certain amount of natural lighting in the building.

If you are looking for lighting control, it helps us to know if you have already hired someone to install the lighting controls. It is also helpful to know the specific controls they are proposing. If you are still looking for someone to install industrial light controls, we can help you determine which controls will work best with our equipment and help you find the appropriate source.

If you are in an older facility, then the project is technically considered a retrofit. It helps us if you supply us with information on your current industrial light levels. A basic light meter can read this information, and any local lighting or electrical contractor should be able to come out and perform this reading for you.

Blueprints of your building are also helpful. If any overhead plans or AutoCAD drawings of your original lighting system are available, please send these to us as well.

Indoor industrial light  fixtures should give your employees safe visibility in all parts of the building. There should be no dark corridors or corners anyone will feel uncomfortable walking—particularly in the evening hours. In offices and workstation areas, lighting must also be optimized for comfort so employees can perform tasks without eye strain.  The same hold true for outdoor commercial lighting applications.

For energy efficiency, always purchase American-made products. Be willing to spend a little more on the latest and greatest technology. Although many times more costly on the front end of a purchase, new technology is engineered to reduce power consumption, which in turn translates into savings that go right back into your corporate budget.

GSA Commercial Lighting & Industrial Lights

What are the most popular types of indoor industrial lighting?
A good example would be high bay relamping. Typically this has to be contracted out because it involves working at very high elevations in relation to the warehouse or factory floor.

What are the most popular industrial lighting fixtures for indoor commercial lighting?
In production and distribution facilities, high bay lights still rank among the world’s most trusted and reliable and industrial indoor lighting fixtures. They provide both general and specialized task lighting for manufacturing and warehousing operations.

Other Industrial Lighting Fixture Types include:

Canopy Lights- used in covered walkway lighting
Vandal Proof Building Lights- which illuminate the front interior entrances of buildings, and
Commercial Fluorescent Office Lights- illuminate offices, restrooms, hallways, break rooms

What fixture features are “must-haves” for lights to be worth your investment?
You need to invest in good prismatic reflectors to get your money’s worth. To protect against breakage, you also need to consider glass or polycarbonate lenses on commercial or industrial lighting.

What are the best qualities to seek in outdoor industrial lighting fixtures?
The most important quality is a high-grade reflector. This is because both the beam spread and the intensity of the luminance will fall short of intended foot candle requirements if the reflector is not engineered with the highest quality assurance standards in mind.

Another must-have quality in today’s super energy-conscious world is fast start pulse capability. This is especially valuable feature of floodlights, and it is also a very vital to getting things back online if there is a temporary power outage for quick restrikes.

Invest in the best lumens-per-watt energy rating. Ideally you want luminaires that can produce large amounts of light at comparatively lower levels of power, and ones that will remain in compliance with increasingly strict lighting regulations.

What companies use commercial light fixtures?
All types of businesses rely upon industrial lighting fixtures. Some of these are strictly commercial outfits, but many are municipal and academic facilities. The following list represents only a few examples of what we are talking about here:

· Gas stations
· Truck stops
· Warehouses
· Bus terminals
· Schools
· Corporate office parks
· Factories

Please keep in mind too that as a GSA Advantage lighting Vendor, Residential Landscape Lighting and Design can now provide The Federal Government with commercial light fixtures.

GSA Contract: # GS-07F-0060W
DUNS# 178532334
CAGE# 569X5

What makes RLLD fixtures more effective in quality?
We can reduce this inconvenient cost by providing you with high performance metal halide lamps that will make them last longer and require less frequent relamping—and relamping costs to your maintenance cycle.

What are the maintenance and replacement cycles that contribute to further savings?
For starters, all of our industrial HID lighting fixtures are made in the USA. They have longer and more detailed warranties. They almost invariably have better lumens-per-watt ratings than overseas equivalents. Using our fixtures will save on power costs and help return front-end investment.

Industrial Fluorescent Lighting Recent laws now require all incandescent lights to be replaced no later than 2010. Consequently, industrial fluorescent lights will play an increasingly vital role in future lighting design. Almost every factory, warehouse, and office park will need new architectural area lights, if not a completely new lighting system. We strongly recommend that you urge your clients now to invest now rather than later, because part shortages will most likely arise when many companies wait until the last minute. RLLD Commercial Lighting anticipates and understands that your clients may not want to spend money until we know how long this recession we are facing is going to last. You will overcome their fears when you show them the many benefits that industrial fluorescent light fixtures will provide for their business. By explaining how this evolving technology can actually help them recession-proof their business, you can gain a strong competitive advantage over other contractors. Who out there doesn’t want to invest in longer-lasting, energy efficient equipment whose reduced power consumption and lower maintenance cost will compound savings that pay back the value of the purchase order and potentially generates a revenue surplus? Industrial fluorescent lights last longer than other luminaires. We personally have never encountered a client who enjoys wasting money on equipment replacements. We strongly suspect as well that such clients do not exist. The people we know expect their money’s worth anytime they spend it, and they expect the things they buy to last. Industrial fluorescent lights will prove their value to these cautious clients the minute the lights power on. With superior and more reliable performance than luminaires, these clients will experience a light that is more comfortable to the eyes (generally industrial fluorescent lamps create significantly less glare), and lower electric bills. This is going to be a major turning point for contractors in cities such as Houston, TX. Our city government has recently tightened the belt on LPW codes. Come August 1st when the new law goes into effect, no more than.05 watt will be permitted for every lumen produced. With these changes on the near horizon, it is essential for contractors in Houston and other major cities to propose lamps that will generate more light with less electricity. As a general rule, industrial fluorescent light fixtures feature a LPW and offer the additional benefit of cooler operating temperatures. For warehouses and shipping/receiving centers that are using currently using HID high bay and low bay lights, replacing existing fixtures with fluorescent industrial bay lights can lower the temperature within the building and generate further savings on HVAC cooling costs.Fluorescent lights are found almost everywhere in the world of industry and distribution.Fluorescent industrial lights represent some of the world’s most diversified sources of illumination. You see industrial fluorescent light sources in virtually every indoor and outdoor lighting system. This is especially true in material handling, manufacturing, and shipping receiving companies who have to squeeze every penny on overhead to turn a profit. Because industrial fluorescent lamps render color at only 8 points less than that of natural light, fluorescent low bays are an excellent line item to offer any client that needs a better light source over an assembly line or work area characterized by highly detailed or potentially dangerous tasks. For industrial site lighting, they perform competitively against a large percentage of HID area lights. In our energy and environmentally conscious marketplace, you find everything from industrial fluorescent bollards and decorative landscape lights to powerful fluorescent floodlights linked to motion detectors and advanced alarms. Warehouses commonly use fluorescent wall packs as glare free, economic lighting sources around building perimeters and loading docks. Canopy lights with fluorescent lamps also serve as highly efficient and vandal-proof fixtures for industrial walkway lighting and parking garage lighting.Today’s industrial fluorescent lights feature electronic ballasts that create a quality of light that is higher than ever before. The stereotype many people have of industrial fluorescent lights as headache generators has long since been disproven and overcome and by newer, electronic ballasts that have freed fluorescent light from the flickering and yellowing effects produced by the inferior ballasts of the past. Today’s fluorescents generate a comfortable, white, glare free luminance that is easy on the eyes and fits hand in glove with glare and light pollution regulations. It is important to inform clients about the difference between retail fluorescents that use cheap, magnetic ballasts and more advanced specification grade industrial fluorescent lights with electronic ballasts. The all-American-made, specification quality fixtures we supply to contractors feature only the very best electronic ballasts in a variety of voltages engineered for superior electron flow, power management, exceptional CRI, and photometric delivery power. This represents the highest level of manufacturing and engineering quality in our industry; which is why so many general contractors and builders rely upon RLLD Commercial as their exclusive vendor.

Wall Pack Lights

The best way to select the best wall packs for your client is to have RLLD conduct a detailed photometric analysis of your clientʼs building. We have purchased some of the worldʼs most sophisticated lighting design software that will enable us to calculate the necessary foot-candle density around the building, the lumens per watt efficiency required to keep your client in compliance with local lighting codes, and the economic stress relief that more efficient fixtures will have on your clientʼs energy bill.

By calculating these things first, we will help you narrow down the options to the wall packs that most fit the criteria determined by the analysis. The majority of our wall packs are designed with the deliberate intention of creating security lighting or safety lighting around a building. Any industrial client or distribution center you are working for will want to know how these fixtures can keep their facility safe from intrusion and vandalism. Other clients, such as those public centers with a great deal of nighttime pedestrian traffic, are going to need wall packs that illuminate walkways for people to better see. Still other organizations may want simple decorative lighting around the building, and wall packs can provide a very ambient and cost effective lighting source to this effect.

Finding high pressure sodium wall packs is never hard because they appear to be everywhere. However, finding the one that right wall pack for your client may be a different matter altogether. Our staff is always happy to go over the photometric analysis with members of your team and present multiple options for you to pass on to your clients. In this sense, we function as an adjunct consulting service as well as an equipment vendor.

All of our wall packs are energy efficient. The ever popular metal halide lamp can now be obtained in pulse start technology, allowing an MH wall pack to instantly power on whereas in the past it took a few moments to fully illuminate. This enables you to integrate your clientʼs wall packs into motion sensors that will turn on the lights that are attached to the building in addition to the flood lights around the building.

We also sell zero sight line metal halide wall packs. These are sometimes necessary to prevent the beams from your fixtures from being seen above the roof of your building. If you are uncertain as to the nature of dark sky laws in your clientʼs community, do not call city hall. Call us, and we will research local lighting regulations in detail for you.

All wall packs are made in the USA and backed up in full by written manufacturer warranties. Additionally, we obtain our round wall packs from a number of impartial manufacturers, not a single source. This means we have no obligatory quotas to meet and no hidden agendas in what we propose as the best possible fixtures for your client. Our recommendations made objectively and are not based upon preference for a particular manufacturer or style of fixture, but rather on the basis of determining what is best for you and your client.

Because we can obtain so many different types of wall packs from so many sources, you will not have to wait on parts to arrive when you obtain them from RLLD Commercial Lighting. Our special relationships with American manufacturers enable us to have your wall packs drop shipped ASAP directly to your clientʼs location without having to pass through third party distribution channels. This can take as much as a month from standard lead time.

It is also much more easy to use RLLD Commercial Lighting as a streamlined channel through which you can obtain different models, wattages, and lamp options from two or more different manufacturers on a single purchase order.

If you have any questions about any of the lighting products we offer, do not hesitate to give us a call at 1-800-239-2939. We are happy to answer any questions you may have, and help you choose the right products for your application. At Residential Landscape Lighting & Design, we have access to a full range of commercial lighting options suited to the many needs and concerns facing business owners today.

Our commercial lighting design center is located in Houston with distribution centers positioned throughout the United States that enable us to service all 50 states including New York NY, Los Angeles CA, Miami, FL. Wallpack Light Fixtures

Commercial wall packs are surface mount light fixtures that install on the sides of a building. Wall packs are manufactured from cast aluminum housing, contain a ballast, a lamp, and a glass refractor lens that distributes illumination. Wallpacks come in both traditional styles as well as more high performance, glare free cut off type wallpack models for dark sky areas.

Most contractors prefer to install 175 watt metal halide wall packs around their clientsʼ buildings. RLLD Commercial Lighting also carries a full range of additional wattages, including the popular 400 watt high pressure sodium wall pack fixture, and specialty wattages in 35, 70, 100, 175, and 250 watts. All RLLD Commercial Lighting wall pack fixtures are manufactured in the USA, and the bulk of these lights have multi-tap ballasts that operate at 120, 208, 277, and 480 volts.

As most contractors already know, commercial wall packs are the most popular outdoor flood lights in commercial lighting today. Several new developments have diversified them now more than ever.

Restrike technology in MH fixtures
With the advent of new quartz restrike technology in round MH wall pack fixtures, you can now wire them to motion sensors and light up the entire wall when a possible intrusion is detected. This can be an invaluable negotiating point for you when you are dealing with a client on a tight budget, such as a non-profit, a school, a church, or a government building. Even though the expenditure of new lights may be a bit overwhelming at first glance, the added security that motion controlled wall packs can offer their building helps buffer the facility against the staggering losses caused by property crime.

Zero site line optics
Another wall pack fixture we are beginning to sell more and more of is the zero site line wall pack. In cities where dark sky laws strictly prohibit illumination from rising above the roof of the building, these fixtures are ideal security lights that simultaneously keep your client in full compliance with lighting regulatory codes. Zero site line high pressure sodium wall packs are made with forward throw optics and solid tops that prevent the light from shining into the sky. You see a great deal of these now in California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado.

If you do are not familiar with the lighting regulations are in your clientʼs community, do not waste time tracking down city officials or attorneys. Ask an expert at RLLD. One of the many consultative support services we perform is lighting code and dark sky research. If you are committed to working with us, we will find out if the full details of the lighting regulations in your clientʼs area and inform you of which wall pack fixtures you can and cannot install on their building.

Fluorescent Lamps
We also have scores of new wall packs with fluorescent lamps intended to slash operating costs for clients on a limited operating budget. Fluorescents are an ideal light source in areas that are very concerned about light pollution. They diffuse the light to softer levels that are easier on the eyes but nonetheless maintain an effective, even spread of illumination around the building.

Each contractor who does business with us also receives a full photometric analysis of the clientʼs site to help determine foot candle requirements, fixture positioning, locations, mounting options, the number of fixtures, and the most appropriate type of lamp to use. The cost of the analysis will be subtracted in full from your purchase order at the time of your equipment purchase.

Also, RLLD gives you access to thousands of commercial fluorescent light fixtures from many different American manufacturers. None of our equipment is made overseas.

At Residential Landscape Lighting & Design, we have access to a full range of commercial lighting options suited to the many needs and concerns facing business owners today. If you still have questions about what to choose for your residential or commercial lighting project, ask an expert or give us a contact us toll free at 1-800-239-2939 and we will try to find an answer to your question.

Our headquarters is located in Downtown Houston with additional warehouses located throughout the United States that enable us to service all 50 states including New York NY, Los Angeles CA, Miami, FL. Kitchen Cabinet Lighting

As home square footage has increased over the past 40 years, kitchen sizes have also increased. Todayʼs kitchen is more than a food preparation and storage center. It is a hub for social activities that requires both decorative and functional illumination to support the activities of the host and accommodate the sensibilities of guests. Central ceiling lights are no longer adequate for these requirements, so other task and decorative light sources must be installed by the builder in order to fill the room with light and add whatever aesthetic touches are necessary to compliment the environment.

One superb source of decorative home lighting is kitchen cabinet lighting. Kitchen cabinet lights can be installed over the cabinet, under the cabinet, or even inside of kitchen cabinets as general lighting sources. There are a four major cabinet lighting fixture types, each offering a wide range of models to choose from and customization options and accessories that contractors can use to compliment custom interior architecture and complex interior lighting designs.

As much as possible, kitchen cabinet light fixtures should either blend into their surroundings or maintain a low profile so as not to disrupt the surrounding decorating theme. It is also advisable to use kitchen undercabinet light fixtures that are dimmable, as most homeowners want to have control over the levels of light these fixtures produce. Some residents even like to leave their kitchen under cabinet or over cabinet lights on throughout the night, dimmed to low settings, to function as accent nightlights. If the homeowner intends to do this, you should install low voltage fixtures so they can use their lights freely without exorbitant power costs.

Rope Lights
Rope lights over kitchen cabinets are a good way to light kitchen soffits in smaller kitchens, kitchens in lofts, small commercial kitchens in break rooms, and mid-sized homes in suburban areas where livability is preferred above sheik decorum. They can also be installed in very creative ways as under the cabinet lights. LED rope lights are extremely energy efficient and consume a negligible amount of power. They are also inexpensive in terms of front end costs and easy to install.

Puck Lights
If only a portion of the counter under the cabinet needs light, you donʼt want to use rope lights in a series or even linear strips. Decorative puck lights with finishes and fixture designs that compliment kitchen cabinetry and countertops can offer a centered, bright source of down light over countertops.

Puck lights are also great in-cabinet light fixtures which can be used in larger cabinets and pantries to illuminate contents and provide general lighting for cookware, food, and supplies.

Recessed Lights
Recessed kitchen cabinet lighting adds an eclectic design element to kitchen decorum. If you are building a home or office kitchen with an ultra modern theme, you probably want to go with recessed lights or under the cabinet light fixtures. Because they permanently install into the cabinet, they are more unobtrusive and offer a wide range of lamping options as well, including halogen for bright white light and fluorescent for energy efficient lighting.

Linear Lighting Strips

Recessed Commercial Electric Lights

Improved illumination creates a more positive and focused office environment. It helps improve employee morale, and it contributes to increased productivity. Of course, many businesses may feel that now is not the best time to spend money on a comprehensive overhaul of their interior lighting system. For companies who are hesitant to invest in a completely new interior lighting system, commercial recessed fluorescent lights offer an affordable enhancement to the existing general lighting system that represents a safe-bet investment in a sluggish market place and also helps to reduce liability and improve general safety.

A certain number of foot-candles are needed within a building so people can clearly see what they are doing and where they are going. Pockets of shadow or low levels of light represent areas where employees can injure themselves or suffer from eye strain due to insufficient light. Commercial recessed down lights are an effective source and affordable source of enhanced illumination in these. Reducing the risk of injury or work-related physical stress helps decrease the potential liability for an organization with substandard levels of lighting. Something as simple as installing a few commercial recessed electric lights could potentially qualify a company for reduced commercial liability insurance rates. This depends upon the insurance carrier, of course, and if possible, will probably require some very extensive documentation such as a photometric analysis to show where the improvements have been made.

Recessed electric light fixtures are also an excellent source of accent lighting in commercial interiors. Meeting rooms and foyers are the two most rooms that every company should spend the money to literally put in the best possible light. Recessed electric lighting fixtures in these rooms can be wired to dimmer controls that allow for the light to be set to appropriate levels for different events. Speeches, sales presentations, private meetings, and even video conferencing can all benefit from the flexible and controlled illumination produced by commercial recessed ceiling light fixtures.

To choose fixture specifics such as housings, trims, and lamp types, it is best to first quantify floor and vertical cube space, and to spend as much time as necessary to interface with clients to learn the key activities that represent their business model and what type of light fixtures will best support those activities. This information can then be passed on to an RLLD lighting specialist who can this data using sophisticated design software that generates a comprehensive photometric analysis of the clientʼs interior office space. This photometric assessment depicts a point by point, room by room breakdown of required levels of lighting and optimal locations for general and accent lighting fixture placement. Knowing these two details helps the contractor determine exactly how many recessed electric lighting fixtures are actually needed, and which housings, trims, and lamp types will best meet the requirements of the proposed installation.

For ceilings that cannot be cut due to restrictions in the commercial lease, retrofit recessed light fixtures may be the best way to go. Smaller companies who feel the pain of investing even in a few new ceiling lights can be reassured with the promise of lowering electric bills with low voltage recessed fixtures. Unique interior architecture such as sloped ceilings can also be accommodated with special recessed electrical light fixtures made just for such interiors.

These are just a few examples of the range of options available through RLLDʼs online inventory and supply house. We offer contractors an enormous diversity of commercial recessed electrical lighting lamps, housings, and trims that combine unobtrusiveness with flexibility. All equipment is American made here in the United States and drop shipped directly to the clientʼs location unless otherwise requested. Photometric analysis and adjunct consultation services are free to clients and serious inquirers, and consultations services are available for a reasonable fee for contractors seeking expert advice on an as-need basis.

Area Lighting

It is now paramount that contractors make Lumen per watt efficiency the number one consideration in the designing and installation of area lighting systems. Rising energy costs are affecting everything, and new legislation is taking effect that will require a .05 watt per square foot maximum for outdoor area and commercial street lighting projects. This requires you, the contractor, to pay closer attention to area geometry. It is necessary to carefully pinpoint optimal fixture placement locations, and you have to choose fixtures that will deliver more light with less consumption of electricity. As a commercial lighting supplier, we understand fixture placement and operating efficiencies.

Restrictions on glare and light pollution are also getting tougher. Light fixtures made overseas are usually incapable of shielding the eyes from glare or preventing light spillage into surrounding homes and businesses. Only top-quality, commercial pole lights that are manufactured here in the United States can give you the assurance of full compliance with dark sky laws and the warranted protection on equipment that guarantees minimized maintenance and replacement costs for your clients.

PARKING LOT LIGHTS
Parking lot lighting fixtures and lighting poles are two of the most necessary elements of area lighting. Parking lot lights are very heavily regulated in reference to foot candle levels and limitations on the amount of glare produced by the fixtures. Higher poles tend to illuminate larger areas and keep the area’s overall lighting in compliance with foot candle requirements and energy efficiency codes. However, you have to be careful not to use parking lot pole lighting packages that are too tall. Almost every city has dark sky laws that limit pole height to a maximum height. The key to balancing these apparently contradictory legal requirements is to use cut off luminaire designs made from tempered glass lenses and reflectors formed from specular facets. These outside commercial lighting fixtures will minimize glare and to disperse light over greater distances. They also keep power consumption at a minimum while simultaneously increasing the total square footage they illuminate.

ARCHITECTURAL BUILDING LIGHTING
When you set out to light an actual building for your client, area lighting fixtures must accent the architecture without overwhelming it. Ideally, they should keynote only the most important features of a building rather than light the entire building itself. This helps curb energy expenses and eliminate light pollution, and it also creates a secondary effect of keynoting what is truly important to a particular structure with a less is more approach to luminaire installation. For small to medium buildings we have created landscape lighting kits designed for cost effective building lighting.

It is important to install light fixtures at optimal angles of incidence will to get the highest aesthetic results from metal halide flood lighting. You must hide the light source as much as possible so that viewers see the building and do not notice the fixtures. A wide selection of choices in wattages, luminaire mounts, reflectors, and cut off designs are available to can be install practically any size or type of fixture in strategic locations so as to make them virtually invisible to the casual viewer.

LANDSCAPE AREA LIGHTING
In much the same way, landscape area lighting should be approached with a “less is more” design strategy. Focus on illuminating features of the landscape rather than the entire property---which for very large businesses may be dozens, or even hundreds, of acres. Pathways and decorative benches can be lit quite cost effectively with fluorescent lighting bollards. Low voltage bollard fixtures are ideal to use around waterways, commemorative statues, ponds, and fountains. Decorative lighting posts with ornamental fixtures are often chosen to create historical themes or aesthetic elements in key locations without overkill or over spending.

RLLD Commercial Lighting not only provides detailed information on these and many other subjects free of charge to all of our clients, but also publishes information on new technology and industry trends to all who enroll in our online community program. Commercial Lighting Pole Installation

Installing commercial light pole hardware correctly requires a systematic process that originates within the purely conceptual and culminates in the precise and established. This process is similar to a flowchart, with every segment depending on the segment before it, and every following segment resting on the foundation of the preceding segment. Each step along the way has to be successfully implemented without error, or the entire system is severely weakened and rendered ineffective.

Due to this interrelationship between the parts and the whole, the consequences of making miscalculations at any stage(s) of the installation of commercial light pole packages can be error compounded by error. Mishaps often occur when too many vendors become involved in a project. A design source might not have access to the best commercial light poles, and the actual lighting pole vendor may not be able to seamlessly coordinate installation of both the fixtures and the commercial concrete footings.

You will save your organization a tremendous amount of time and money when you obtain a turnkey commercial lighting pole installation from RLLD. Our representatives will handle the complete installation as a seamless consultation -> design -> procurement -> installation project from start to finish, being careful to impeccably execute each of the following steps summarized below.

Idea
Your project begins in your mind. You visualize a desired outcome that is both affordable to your budget and satisfactory to needs and personal tastes. This epiphany functions as a “big picture template” that our representatives will respectfully consider as the starting point of the process.

If you consult with one of our commercial parking lot lighting pole installers who can preserve the integrity of your original idea, and expand it according to all logistical, legal, and technically sound principles, you will be much more satisfied and see your new lighting system as something you actually helped participate in creating.

Conceptual Design
Your concept will then be expanded into a design that provides a visual model of how your lighting system will look after it has been installed. Our many years of experience working in high-end lighting design ensure you an exceptionally detailed and attractive visual piece upon the completion of this step. We can provide the any and all necessary lighting pole information required for a project.

Photometric Calculations
Photometric calculations specify the placement of poles, pole type, and the necessary pole height for optimal quality and quantity of commercial outdoor lights. These calculations ensure the technical and functional integrity of the conceptual design and allow us to make any necessary changes to the conceptual design prior to actual equipment purchase. They also help us narrow our focus on fixture procurement before the next stage even begins.

***Please take note of this special fact: RLLD uses some of the most sophisticated exterior lighting design software currently on the market to develop your conceptual design and perform all photometric calculations accurately and expediently.

Fixture Specification
Certain lighting fixtures will work better than others at different heights and in different environments. As part of our turnkey commercial light pole installation service, we identify the types of fixtures you will need, how many we need to provide you, and what customization options you will require for optimal lighting results.

Wind Zone Research
Wherever you are in the United States, you reside within an area designated by the EPA as a “specific wind zone.” This designation refers to the speed of the wind in your area at various elevations. WIND LOAD refers to the ability of a commercial light pole to safely withstand the strongest possible winds in your area without collapsing. To install the right commercial light poles, you have to know all the specifics about your particular wind zone area, and you have to know how to equivocate the wind load of a pole you may be interested in buying in relationship to the specifications mandated by Federal law.

This is too much research, too much math, and too much time for your staff to cost effectively handle. As a nationwide specialist in commercial lighting pole installs, we already have this data for most parts of the country. If you live in a remote area, we can easily find it.

Local Codes/Lighting Restrictions
Your commercial lighting pole installation is also subject to local regulation. The height and fixture mount on each pole has a direct impact on the direction and intensity of the light. RLLD will ensure that you have the best possible poles that produce the best quality and quantity of light within the boundaries of local laws and area lighting restrictions.

Quote
The quote you receive from us will always represent a fair, cost-effective, and accurate estimation of multiple values. First, we build upon your idea in a technically sound manner, researching and detailing all of the technology involved to ensure its longevity, legality, and viability. Secondly, by calculating exactly how much LIGHT you need, we can show you exactly how many commercial poles and fixtures you need without wasting money or time. Consider how much more value you will gain when you receive design, research, technical calculations, equipment, and installation all from the same source. Single source vendor means less wasted time, lower margin for error, and greater opportunity for long term return on investment.

Architectural Area Lighting

Architectural area lighting features an aesthetic element that differentiates its fixture types from the purely functional types used in typical site lighting. Although the lamps used in both architectural area light fixtures and site lighting fixtures are often similar, if not identical light sources, architectural area and commercial outdoor lighting fixtures showcase a higher degree of decorative design and ornamentation. As such, purchasing costs are sometimes noticeably higher than site lighting fixtures, and this can deter municipalities, academic institutions, and small companies from making an investment that would otherwise serve their outdoor lighting needs on a number of levels ranging from public appeal to commercial branding. When commercial lighting designers encounter this type of resistance to the cost of these products and the labor associated with designing such a system, they can turn to RLLD Commercial Lighting for adjunct lighting design support that will enable them to develop streamlined, cost-effective proposals for their clients that offer both tangible benefits and ROI on multiple levels.

Contractors frequently encounter office parks, religious institutions, civic centers, municipal government buildings, school districts, colleges, and hospitality clients such as restaurants, resorts, and country clubs that require a high-end architectural commercial lighting fixtures that will contribute very specific elements to their property, building architecture, and public image. The fixtures and lamping options that will ultimately be used to build these systems must fully accommodate the multiple demands of dark sky laws, ever increasingly strict LPW efficiency codes, foot candle minimums requirements, and bring the client tangible ROI through reduced power requirements and minimized ongoing maintenance.

One way to accommodate these many demands in a cost effective manner is to work with a vendor like RLLD Commercial Lighting who offers complimentary, adjunct design services with a systematic approach for selecting architectural, sports, landscape and parking lot lighting fixtures. Before we suggest any fixtures or specific lamping options, we first want to learn a few things about your client’s site. Does the client have a parking lot, a parking garage, or both? How many total buildings are located on the property? Are there public break areas, recreational areas, or walkways that require special lighting? How many people work at night or visit the facility at night? What is the total acreage of the property if it is located on a substantially large piece of land? Whether you need commercial street lighting or indoor commercial lighting, RLLD Commercial Lighting can help!

These questions represent the initial phase in the adjunct design and planning services which we offer to all clients at no additional costs. Without this information, accurate pinpointing of luminance, power use, glare shielding, light pollution control, and a reasonable assurance of human safety cannot be calculated at any real level of accuracy. However, when we understand architectural area lighting or commercial HID lighting fixtures to actually be a combination of four separate elements— parking lot lighting, parking garage lighting, building architectural lighting, and security lighting— it becomes much easier to break down exactly what is needed where, how much light it must produce, what it will cost, and what the expected return on investment will be for your client.

We can ensure the accuracy of these calculations through the use of advanced, proprietary lighting design software that enables us to turn architectural area lighting concepts into architectural area lighting schematics. By collecting data about your client’s site, we can input information into our software and calculate on a point-by- point level the exact photometric requirements needed to determine which specific commercial outdoor lighting fixtures will best provide building accent light, perimeter and walkway security, glare free, well-lit parking areas, an aesthetic, shadow-free landscape, and an energy savings package that offers a measurable ROI by means of energy and maintenance cost savings.

RLLD Commercial Lighting inventories a full selection of architectural area lighting fixtures, lamping options, commercial lighting poles, and mounting accessories that allow the contractor to offer more options to the client at the line item level. As a representative of a number of reputable, domestic, and established manufacturers, we can offer any commercial developer, architect, or lighting designer impeccable lead time on products made here in the United States and drop shipped anywhere in the country to expedite time to market delivery of products and services.

Directional Accent Lights are Among the Most Important Components of an Outdoor Lighting System!

What types of directional accent are available?
Directional accent lights are classified as either high voltage or low voltage. Both offer key benefits depending on where they are used. Commercial clients almost unanimously favor high voltage accent lighting systems because of their ability to support HID (High Intensity Discharge) fixtures. As it is especially necessary in many corporate facilities to use light as a unifying force between architecture and nature, brighter directional accent lights play a big role by clearly showcasing fountains, atrium's, walkways, and even lakes on larger commercial campuses.

Are low voltage lights just as good as high voltage lights?
In smaller areas they are not only just as good, but even better. The average residential lot requires more color and affect than high intensity luminosity. Private homeowners tend to prefer a low voltage system for this reason. Also, low voltage directional lights save money simply because they require less power to operate. Considering as well that many residences decorate extensively with gardens and pathways, low voltage offers a greater level of control over color and effect—two very key aspects to this science that cannot be emphasized enough. Many residential accent lighting fixtures also feature dimmable lights that can be altered to create mood as well as effect simply by raising or lowering the level of output.

How do I know which fixture to choose?
Weather conditions and atmospheric saline content should be foremost in your mind when you choose directional accent lighting fixtures. Aluminum is the most cost effective material for both homeowners and companies on a fixed budget. Plastic composite, copper, and brass fixtures are ideal for atmospheres, which contain high levels of salt, such as those, found along the American Gulf Coast. Selecting directional accent lights in this fashion makes it simple to develop an outdoor lighting system that keynotes all the important elements of a facility or yard. The only remaining determination to choose is that of light source itself.

Am I limited to one bulb type as my only source of light?
Not necessarily. It really depends more on the subject being illuminated and the wattage vs light output needed to properly accent that subject. First determine what matters most to you in your landscape, then use the guidelines below to choose your light source.

Fluorescent Lights
Fluorescent technology creates a stable, bright light that makes for an excellent floodlight for either emphasizing larger areas of the landscape or for security lighting around the perimeter of a property.

Halogen Lights
Halogens cast a slightly golden “aura” around the subject, making them ideal low voltage effect lights for pathways, atrium's, and gardens.

Incandescent Lights
Incandescent lights are ideal for decorative commercial and residential accent and directional lighting and can also operate on timers and dimmer switches for varied lighting effects.

Mercury Vapor Lights and Metal Halide Lights
Commercial clients should strongly consider lighting perimeters with these HID, or Intensity Discharge lights. They are extremely efficient in the amount of light they output versus the actual wattage required to produce that light. They are excellent for highlighting tree lines and keynote architectural characteristics of buildings.

living room lighting consists of layers of illumination carefully deployed to draw attention to walls, decorations, adjacent furnishings and interior

Impeccable living room lighting consists of layers of illumination carefully deployed to draw attention to walls, decorations, adjacent furnishings, and congruence with interior design. This is not as difficult as it sounds if you break down lighting the living room into simple matters of luminance level, color, and distribution, then choosing the appropriate fixture and knowing where to position it follows naturally almost as a logical matter of course.

Pay attention at all times to all furniture, bookshelves, and even fine art take when choosing RLLD living room lights, and avail yourself of our complimentary consultations if you feel you need a specialist’s help in developing your plan for installation.

What fixtures make for a good eclectic or avant-garde living room lighting design?
Compact fluorescent living room lights are ideal for both eclectic decorating and functional lighting in living rooms of any size. Their power energy efficiency is second only to LED, and new ballasting technology now makes it possible to install them on dimmer switches. Our fluorescent compacts feature geometric shapes of all kinds to counterbalance curvature of furniture and angle of the room. They are ideal for the avant-garde and eclectic in taste.

What fixtures work well on dimmer switches?
Contemporary living room lighting fixtures work very well with dimmer switches, and are often the best friend of the innovative and trendy living room lighting designer. This section of our inventory alone has over 400 fixtures from which to choose—and it continues to grow daily. Contemporary living room lighting also offers glare free task lighting and even decorative colored lighting to match any interior design theme conceivable.

What is the best light source for a living room in a large custom home?
Crystal lighting in a living room lends a sense of sophistication, classicism, and refinement that simply cannot be outdone. Not only do the fixtures themselves appear more ornamental and skillfully wrought, but the quality of light produced by crystal has a much more unique and vibrant quality to it as well. Crystal refracts light like a prism, casting it simultaneously in all directions at once. Our crystal living room lights feature hand craftsmanship that equals that of chandeliers, and clients looking to mount a pendant or chandelier as a centerpiece light in the living room may therefore want to consider decorating with a primarily crystal theme.

What type options do you have that will create an Art Deco look?
Rustic and iron living room lighting fixtures lend themselves well to any Art Deco, Spartan, or less-is-more approach to design. For smaller living rooms, consider hand-made, single light sconces to go along the walls. Light bars are another hot item to be found in this section. Hanging suspended from the ceiling, they make excellent keynotes above doorways leading to hallways and kitchens. Colored lights for the living room abound in this section as well; so decorators looking to add a frontier or colonial look to the environment have much to choose from in this category.

What do you have that is truly unique?
Transitional living room lighting, which, as its name suggests, represents the “middle ground” between classic and contemporary styles. For homes with unique floor plans, this often proves to be a preferred style because it brings tradition to the table reminiscent of larger custom homes and simultaneously adds elements of the innovative and futuristic. In this section, find up lights and down lights in fine glass work fixtures that create unique and varied patterns of lighting along walls, eclectic 3-D art, and modern furniture.

Foyer Lighting Creates Mood, Safety, and Comfort for Arriving Guests

Why is foyer lighting so important in a home?
Perhaps the most important value of foyer lighting is its ability to instantly set mood for arriving guests Foyer lights introduce the interior design of a home, and they function as a link between outdoor lighting to indoor lighting. Foyer lighting needs to differentiate the inside world from the outside world, but too much differentiation creates shock to the guest with either too much or too little light. Because of this, foyer lights work best when installed on dimmer switches that allow you to directly control light levels. You can also install several foyer lights on multiple, separate dimmers, each controlling separate combinations of fixtures and allowing for the creation of layered and colored lighting effects.

What types of houses need special attention to foyer lighting?
Foyer lighting is critical to homes with a staircase entrance or a tall ceiling as not only a mood setter, but also a much-needed source of safe task lighting. In a two-story foyer RLLD recommends a suspended fixture or even a chandelier for foyer down lighting. Much of the ultimate selection of physical pieces will depend greatly on both personal preference and fit with other lighting systems inside the home. This is why we furnish foyer lighting fixtures in styles that range from compact fluorescent, contemporary, Craftsman & Mission, crystal, iron & rustic, traditional, and transitional.

How do you know which fixtures to choose?
The choice of fixture size will depend mostly on the size of your ceiling, although factors such as the dimensions of one or more adjacent wall(s) and the presence of mirrors and paintings also play a role. Smaller foyers lend themselves better to recessed lights, and usually a single overhead fixture is all that is necessary to center down lighting over the room. This can then be complimented with wall sconces or multiple light fixtures placed at or just above eye level.

Are there any special considerations to take into account when lighting my foyer?
Many foyers also have mirrors, and placing sconce lights on the sides of the mirror is an excellent way to blend function and decorum. Sconce mirror lights on a foyer dimmer switch can be adjusted to illuminate the mirror either as a decorative piece or as a tool for visitors to use to check their appearance before entering the house proper.

Can foyer lighting benefit commercial clients as well as residential homeowners?
In fact, a growing segment of our client base is emerging from the commercial arena as increasing numbers of professionals find time saving and cost-saving value in our convenient drop shipping delivery policy. Every decorative chandelier or light fixture ordered travels straight from the factory to the location of install. Interior designers working as sole proprietors find this service invaluable, as it absolves them of the task of having to figure out where to store the lighting equipment they plan to install for their clients. At the end of the day, everything is a one shop, one click convenience that benefits all parties concerned, and leaves no loose ends of problematics dangling about (unless of course they are pendant fixtures, and placed there deliberately for effect.)

Step and Brick Lights Offer Two Advantages not Available Through Low Voltage Pathlight Fixtures

What do step and brick lights do to add to outdoor lighting?
RLLD’s impressive selection of step lights and brick lights represents a wide range of options for the decorator with both function and ambiance in mind. Step lights and brick lights in brass fixture molds provide aesthetic compliments to many traditional and contemporary-style wall sconces and hanging lanterns. For decorating darker colored bricks, we carry copper lights that blend seamlessly into the background of their surroundings.

What do step and brick lights look like?
They are either flat or protrude slightly from the surface of the wall, casting the light downward. The majority of our brick lights and step lights are molded in the louver design, which resembles a small “grill” with the fins pointing downward. This focuses the light on the ground where people need to see to walk, and keeps the glare from hitting the eyes. When brighter lights are required for extra security and safety, RLLD brick and step high voltage fixtures provide both extra lumens and a wider distribution of landscape light.

For more ambient lighting conditions, low voltage brick lights and step lights offer a wide range of opportunities to highlight and accentuate key outdoor lighting themes along areas of human traffic. We also carry several brick lights in contemporary fixture design called “post sconce lights.” These eclectic peripherals can encircle a patio in light and bring a modernesque touch to the area. RLLD brick and step lights feature all major bulb types and designs as well. Many of our bulbs are designed with maximum energy efficiency in mind and feature bulb life of up to 2,000 hours.

Can commercial lighting designers benefit from brick and step lighting to their proposals?
RLLD strongly recommends that every lighting design firm offer step and brick lights to its clientele if nothing more as an optional line item. This is because many clients may not want to invest in lighting poles or hanging fixtures. Step and brick lights also provide an extra touch of physical safety in an area where even the most coordinated people often trip—the stairs. Any commercial facility hosting events at night can reduce the risk that guests could fall and injure themselves by installing step lights on the stairs themselves and brick lights in adjacent walls. Even from a purely decorative perspective, brick lights offer great value and benefit. High-end clients such as country clubs and resort hotels that host events near pools and patios, or have formal dining areas outside, can add ambiance, convenience, and utility with step lights and specialty deck lights found in this section. We also help individual homeowners for

Are step and brick lights easy for the individual homeowner to install?
Normally, yes. If you run into difficulty, we will be happy to help you either over the phone or through our Ask and Expert e-forum. Increasing numbers of homeowners are decorating with step and brick lighting because these innovative fixtures offer both increased safety and enhanced decorative appeal. Many people like to install them both around the deck and around pool areas, finding them to be simple and relatively low-maintenance, hazard-free items. Children and pets can safely play around step and brick lights without risk of injury, and since so many of our fixtures are low voltage in nature, there is no risk of fatal electric shock from a 12V device. Safety, and convenience, and efficiency not only equate to more comfort and peace of mind, but also reduced energy costs which makes home entertainment simultaneously attractive and desirable but not so expensive as to have to limit the joy or length of events.

Outdoor Hanging Lanterns add charm, mood and calm to any patio or garden.

On a practical level, outdoor hanging lanterns deliver functional lighting by providing outdoor around any structure from which they can be suspended. Outdoor hanging lanterns are also fantastically decorative, and RLLD’s online selection offers an expansive range of choices for those decorating from both a traditionally minded perspective and for those who intend to stay abreast of current trends. We include any number of fixtures that in spite of their commercial grade quality offer an affordable price point for home decorators on a budget, or for those who live in rural areas and smaller houses with only 2 or 3 bedrooms. Outdoor hanging lanterns can actually serve as the primary keynote to an outdoor decorative theme, or they can provide counterbalanced contrast to architectural and landscape lighting designs of a more high-end nature, and they provide a wealth of opportunity in both style and task lighting.

Style and conscious awareness of today’s and decorative movements determines our selection of outdoor hanging lanterns. In today’s world of design, the Arts and Craft/ Mission style lanterns is perhaps one of the hottest decorative trends on the marketplace. Outdoor hanging lanterns in this genre combine a superb blend of mold, metal, and glass to compliment eclectic bungalows, cottages, and urban lofts alike. Some of our more popular designs include Franklin, Pendant, and Glasgow models available in glass styles ranging from iridescent and off white to antique copper and metal finishes. For designers working who wish to work extensively with brass fixtures, we also have low voltage outdoor hanging lanterns that feature 2000 bulb hour lamp life and unfinished brass fixtures. These are favorite choices for landscape lighting designers to use in decorating client flowerbeds or garden areas adjacent to a home or office building. A more refined and elegant touch can be added to an outdoor dining area by suspending a candelabra base pendant lantern above the tables. For true eclecticism, we offer contemporary outdoor hanging lanterns that feature low voltage wall mounts and progressive styles in fixture design. These are an ideal choice for designers to recommend to young clients living in progressive urban areas, as they combine both a sense of forward motion and a power saving economy that makes them very attractive line items on any bid.

Choosing Residential Landscape Lighting and Design as a one-source supply depot for outdoor lanterns and hanging pendants makes it easy for both contractors and artistically motivated homeowners to find exactly what they need in one conveniently organized selection. Contractors receive the added benefit of our vendor contracts with top-name manufacturers, as lighting design clients often request specific fixtures from specific manufacturers and contractors will need access to these companies to win the bid.

For homeowners on a budget, we offer both high-end and budgetary options and provide complimentary design suggestions over the phone or through our Ask an Expert e-forum or contact us online. We are always willing to give advice on which additional fixtures will compliment your selection, and which outdoor hanging lantern accessories will work best with your desired theme.

Have you ever used commercial grade flex lights as a tool for outdoor lighting system.

RLLD inventories three categories of flex lights to accommodate a wide range of commercial lighting design requirements and residential lighting needs.
We provide flex floodlights to bathe a specific portion of the landscape in light. We carry flex path lights that add a decorative touch with to moonlight walks and garden tours, and we carry flex spotlights to bring special emphasis to landscaping features and water works. Additionally, we carry a number of low voltage models to help conserve power consumption by lighting systems on timers that stay on throughout the night.

It is important to use commercial grade flex lights for any outdoor lighting system.
Flex lights are often used in very damp areas or places where they will be directly exposed to mist and water vapor. They also tend to take a beating from the elements and severe weather. Commercial grade flex lights are built with sturdier materials, tend to have superior connectors and insulation for wiring, and feature a higher lens quality that maximized bulb life in high humidity and severe weather areas.

Even at the commercial grade level, flex lights are still extremely affordable compared to more high-end lighting fixtures, so in terms of reducing replacement costs alone it serves nothing to save a few dollars on a retail alternative that simply isn’t designed to work as well or last as long.

Flex Spot Lights can cause illumination to dance on water all night long
Many city parks use flex spotlights to showcase waterfalls, ponds, and fountains. Most of the time, unless they look closely for the fixtures, people don’t even know they are there. Flex lights can hide almost anywhere in the landscape, or behind almost anything. People see the light, but never see the spot lights themselves because the fixtures are hidden behind landscaping features or earthworks.

In tight spots where the lights are actually hit directly by droplets of water, one might want to consider a copper, brass, or aluminum fixture with a sturdy, stable wiring system that won’t rust or short circuit. Arrange them along the inside of low walls that encircle fountains, or place them tucked away behind boulders that surround small ponds or lakes to make the light dance on the water throughout the night and into the morning.

Flex flood lights make excellent garden lights
For flower beds and garden lights that need an every greater “decorative touch,” consider a scallop or starfish hat flood light that will distribute light in a very wide beam spread over the tops of perennials, new blooms, and shrubbery with any number of light levels and height adjustment levels available through RLLD’s many custom fixture, finish, and equipment size options. Garden tours at midnight and flowerbeds around trees can both experience greater aesthetic affect when lit by decorative flex lights.

Flex path lights light the way for moonlight strolls and keep the path safe for all
In other instances where the fixture can actually serve as a decorative adjunct, a fixture designed to emulate a lampshade makes for a very charming path light. We have a number of sizes and bulb strengths available to make path lighting both functional as well as decorative. Flex lights make pathways safe as well as beautiful, so keep this in mind when selecting your fixture choices, or use our Ask and Expert forum to get a specialist’s advise on what the best model is for your needs.

Flex lights resolve many issues that people encounter with standard flood, path, and spotlights.
For small businesses and homeowners on tight budgets, flex lights can create add lighting design to landscaping and gardening in lieu of a high-end system. For commercial and custom landscape lighting clients and commercial contractors, flex lights provide an essential decorative adjunct that adds a special touch of light to any custom-installed system.

Artificial Christmas Tree Accessories from Residential Landscape Lighting & Design

Should I use a wooden stand with an artificial tree to make it look more “alive?”
Not necessarily. Metal stands will look just as good with an artificial tree as do a wooden stands, and they offer trees either high profile decorative enhancements or low-key, unobtrusive support.

Our metal replacement stand consists of dark metal that underneath even the brightest light presents a non-reflective surface that will not detract from the tree and decorations. It includes a metal stand for 6.5 and 7.5 feet trees and fits a 1.25” diameter center pole. This is perfect for the corner of the room where only one side of the tree presents itself to the eyes of family and friends, and the backside of the tree and corresponding shadow beneath conceal the stand.

For the opposite effect, RLL offers the revolving stand designed for 9.5 feet pre-lit artificial Christmas trees with 2000 lamps. It consists of a metal base plated with a gold-colored overlay, and it offers a highly reflective surface that makes an excellent compliment to globe lights, miniature lights, amber mini lights, and icicle lights. Its ambient surface will catch every flashing color and scatters it like a prism, simultaneously adding a golden touch to the various shades of red, green, purple, and white.

What accessories do you have to make artificial Christmas trees look more attractive as retail store decorations?
RLLD’s retail light display provides and excellent compliment to any artificial Christmas tree. It serves as either a rack or a decorative piece that stands alongside of the tree itself. RLLD provides a number of artificial Christmas tree electrical accessories as well. We have hand-held Christmas light testers that enable managers to ensure that lights are in good working order and avoid embarrassing burnouts in peak shopping hours. We have multiple outlet electrical extension cords that measure 15 feet long with 2 feet spacing so other accessories can be powered by the same source as the tree—thus limiting the trip hazard in retail floor space. For stores that really want to showcase their Christmas trees—particularly the taller models—we have superb decorations that both reference tradition and technology, depending on the retailer’s corporate culture and merchandising theme.

Technology retailers in particular prefer to decorate with an RLLD our rotating motor that suspends and turns a rotating ball above the tree. For stores with specialty lighting themes, this gives an ultra-modern touch to an ancient symbol and maintains branding while simultaneously celebrating the season.

For traditionalists in love with the Star of Bethlehem, we provide a 40” star tree topper that comes with a green wire. It is designed for use with pre lit trees but can be modified to work with any artificial Christmas tree, bringing an illuminated touch of tradition to family retailers and shopping malls.

Christmas and Holiday LED Sculptures, Decorations, and Lights

Residential Landscape Lighting and Design offers a number of residential and commercial model holiday led lights and decorations that make The Holidays a brightly lit, colorful extravaganza.
Led Christmas lighting technology has already evolved to the point that diode-based illumination now does everything incandescent technology did in the past. LED decorations by RLLD provide offer a number of color, size, and lighting level options for both Christmas trees and holiday decorative accessories. It’s bulbs shine green, red, and yellow to fit the season, and it sports plug and play installation convenience with all necessary hardware prewired so it can be hung whatever location needs extra holiday light.

Another great led Christmas lighting sculpture for holiday retail advertising is RLL’s Ultimate Window Tree.
Standing approximately 36-inches tall, the RLLD Ultimate Window Tree will attract attention the minute shoppers pass by and see it in a window or display case. Many shopping malls and strip centers buy these Window Trees in bulk from RLLD and create row of Christmas led lighted sculpture using from one of the world’s most famous and well-known symbols. The Ultimate Window Tree features a professionally applied, durable coat of emerald paint and long-life LED bulbs that store owners can leave on throughout the night without fear of overheating. Its removable trunk changes dimensions with the turn of a screwdriver, allowing merchandisers to fit it into specialty and custom-cabinet displays as a central-piece Christmas Holiday decoration. LED light bulbs hang in clusters that shine like traditional Christmas balls, thus adding decoration to illumination that burns more consistently and brightly than traditional incandescent equivalents. The Ultimate Window Tree further adapts to flush mounting against walls and glass windows or hangs as a display from an overhead support by an attaching wire. Small stores and gift shops can even hang it from the wall like a 3-dimensional Christmas picture!

People passing by in cars, however, might not notice an LED Christmas light sculpture that that stands only 36 inches high and markets more to pedestrian traffic than motorists already distracted by traffic signals, other cars, holiday signs, and billboards.
To offer our commercial clients the best competitive advantage in such a case, RLLD now offers The Ultimate Holiday Tree. No one will miss the thousands of LED Christmas lights decorate the sculpture and provide a 30-direct view that is clear from any distance. With over 13 sizes ranging from 8 to 100 feet, this Christmas light sculpture looks equally appealing when viewed from afar or a focal point nearby. Football field lighting fixtures from RLLD solve the problems of shadow and glare for small to mid size football fields

RLLD football field lights and accessories can meet and overcome these challenges head on with a number of key features and configuration options that will make any field clearly visible but glare free.

RLLD football field lighting fixtures are made with the finest tempered glass specifically designed to minimize blinding glare. These fixtures range in wattage from 400W-1500W and mount on steel poles by means of 2, 3, or 4 light angle cross arm bars. This allows for lights to be added in groups, building levels of intensity incrementally until optimal luminosity for the field is achieved. Football fans in the stands will also benefit from this type of lighting system when fixtures are correspondingly placed around walkways, concession areas, bathrooms, and entrances and exits.

RLLD specialists will help configure lighting systems for football fields free of charge with any serious inquiry or bulk purchase.

With RLLD football field lighting fixtures, adapters, and poles, summer camp fields can be the reason kids decide to spend two weeks in the great outdoors—not to fish, but to play football.
For summer camp football fields, lighting packages for wooden poles can be substituted for sports lighter fixtures when the traditional seating or stands we associate with the game are absent and the field itself may multi-function as an arena for other games or equestrian events.

Churches and community organizations can likewise expect higher attendance on Fridays and Saturday night when they have a good, clear well-lighted playing field for football players and fans alike.
Both school spirit, school attendance, and even small community college enrollment can increase with a quality lighting design on the mid-sized stadium level that specifically targets the key points of football and adequately illuminates the entire facility throughout.

Most of the smaller football fields we light are for children in pee wee and little leagues, or for junior high and high school teams, and the requirements for safety become even more paramount when we consider that it is the safety of children that is at stake.
Football will never be anything less than a rough contact sport, and a certain amount of painful battering is part of the overall nature of the event. Nevertheless, when there is optimal lighting, players who are trained in the game—even extremely young children—have a better chance of weathering the impacts than they would if visibility were obscured on the field due to bad football lighting fixtures or incorrect lighting pole placement.

These things that often escape the notice of the general public and sometimes even schools, churches, camps, and community leagues can make a key difference in both the way the game is played and the impact it has on people involved in all levels of the game. Superior, commercial grade football field lights first and foremost protect the safety of young people in these facilities and ensure that injury, heartache, and liability are minimized.

Add tradition, endearment, and humor, and light to your holiday decorations this year with RLLD…

Christmas is a tradition that follows traditions. If you pause for only a moment to consider what makes Christmas a holiday as much as a holy day, there are certain things that come to mind that you simply cannot imagine this time of year being without.

The most obvious of these is the lighted Christmas tree. The second thing you picture is holiday lighting and decorations that enhance Christmas trees and create entire, separate themes of endearment- even humor- for holiday cheer and celebration.

A brief list of these items follows as a partial sampling of our offerings. Check back daily as we will be adding more holiday lighting strings, lights and decorative items all the way through the end of November.

A Tradition of Light
RLLD also carries mainstream, traditional holiday lighting decorations that represent Christmas on a Universal Spiritual as well as a secular level. Lighted stars enliven any environment and uplift the spirit regardless of belief system. We carry Christmas stars that emit traditional white light that make excellent lighted decorations for holiday window displays and also top off Christmas trees of any type or size.

For specialty lighting, we offer a number of colors in Moravian star design, including green, and purple. The star measures an even 14” both vertically and horizontally and comes with a 5 feet lead cord. For specialty lighting, decorators in holiday lighting can select a number of mini lighted star spheres that feature elegant, 6" clear twinkling light. This is a favorite for retailers looking to draw the eyes of shoppers to key areas of the store showcasing special merchandise for the season.

Snowflake decorations can light up holiday display windows as well, and they make excellent ornaments for trees both in stores and in the living room. Lighted snowflakes can also dual serve as yard art and outdoor retail lighting. Shrubs, trees, hedges, and overhangs can all be enhanced by flakes of light of all shapes and sizes suspended over walkways and holiday lighted statuary.

Endearing Symbols
Of course, Christmas tradition would not be true tradition without Santa and his reindeer. RLLD has a number of holiday lighted decorations and Santa displays in a variety of sizes and colors. Building on the popularity and versatility of rope lighting for holiday decorations, we have a 60" holographic rope light Santa that comes completely assembled and ready to plug in straight out of the box.

This Santa makes an excellent centerpiece to a Christmas scene both indoors and out, and children and adults equally love the design. We also carry Santa and reindeer holiday lighting decorations, as one of the season’s most world famous symbols.

Possibly our most ornate holiday lighted decoration is our special freestanding reindeer made from a fine gold-colored foil that adds a special glow to the light of 250 bulbs within. You can add them to your Santa display, or you can create little "herds" of reindeer that fill up empty spaces in your parking lot or front yard.

Santa Rides More than a Sleigh
For decorators looking to light up the yard with holiday humor, we even have a Santa on a motorcycle. Harley buffs and weekend bikers may argue at times over who truly owns the road, but at this time of year, we’re all behind Santa on his Easy Ride, we’re all at peace and happy on equal holiday ground beneath the RLLD Christmas tree.

Light Your Greens and Driving Range with Commercial Grade Golf Lights From Residential Landscape Lighting and Design.

Why is it important to use only top-rated, commercial grade lighting materials?

Simply put, retail golf lights generally offer less weather and impact resistance than commercial grade athletic field lighting equivalents. Retail grade lenses are more likely to break if hit by a stray ball, and wiring in retail golf lights can occasionally short circuit in extremely wet weather. RLLD lights for golf driving ranges and backyard putting greens feature highly impact resistant glass and sturdy mounts that protect sensitive electronic components from harsh elements.

Furthermore, the added value of being able to match accessories and obtain lighting poles from a single online vendor saves you time as well as money when you considers the bulk purchase rates we offer on many equipment lines, the convenient drop shipping straight from the factory that we deliver to every client, and the complimentary assistance we provide online or over the phone at no additional cost.

What specific lighting equipment can we buy through RLLD?

Not only can you find all the golf lights you need in our online inventory, but also any other lights required for landscaping, security, and indoor lighting. Specific to golfing, course lights for greens and driving ranges include fixtures, mounts, and accessories to provide everything required for aesthetic and functional golf course lighting. We have a wide variety of finishes to compliment the aesthetics of any environment.

Our selection also showcases a broad range of light fixture finishes for golf course greens and many accessories, too, that mount these fixtures on either wood or steel lighting poles, and we also provide the poles themselves in other portions of our site.

What lights do you carry for golf course driving range lighting?

For larger courses, we recommend custom designing golf course lights using any number of steel or wooden poles, mounting brackets, and high-wattage Sports Liter fixtures found here in the driving range fixtures category. We provide clients and contractors with 400-watt fixtures and 1000-watt fixtures. We sell mounting brackets separately to allow for greater freedom in design customization and also to help them precisely determine the number of fixtures required for a desired level of light.

Do you have low voltage putting green lights?

Yes, but even some of our high voltage models save power as well. For example, our 120 volt golf putting green lights are extremely powerful and impact resistant. They house fluorescent lamps that in spite of their high voltage nature offer power conservation and a longer bulb life of up to 10,000 hours. Adding one of these each to the 18 holes behind a country club adds the combined compliment of high-end lighting technology in an aesthetic fixture mount that fits will with surroundings and landscaping.

Our low voltage golf course lights are built with Solite tempered glass lenses that provide some of the strongest protection in the industry from stray ball impact. Halogen lamps behind these lenses light up putting greens with no shadows.

Read more here about specific athletic lighting fixtures and accessories we offer to golf course enthusiasts, and click here to Ask The Expert any question about driving range or putting green lighting.
