What is the difference between an MR 16 and MR 11? I need to replace a socket in one of my outdoor 12V fixtures and I think it''s one of these, but not sure which one.

MR11 lamp sockets are considerably smaller than MR16 lamp sockets.  The pins are smaller in both with and diameter.

Most outdoor lighting fixtures use the MR16 lamp.  It is roughly 2" in diameter.  The most popular MR16 lamp is the 20 watt (BAB) 38 degree MR16 flood lamp.
