I'm installing a low voltage under cabitnet lighting system and I am confused about installing a dimmer. Do I need a special dimmer switch and should this be installed on the primary or the secondary side of the transformer? Also do I need a special transformer to accomplish this. I was trying to get away from the touch dimmers

The dimmer should be installed on the primary side of the transformer.  If you are using an electronic transformer you will need a dimmer rated for ELV loads.  If you have a magnetic transformer you will need a dimmer rated for MLV loads.  Click here to see the transformers we offer in 12 volts.
