low voltage under cabinet lighting

I am looking to install low voltage (12V) under cabinet lighting in our new kitchen. We have cabinets on three walls and would like to be able to control them seperately. I say I need three seperate transformers and a standard dimmer switch for each transformer to do the controls. Do I need low voltage dimmer switches to do this? If so for what reason or is there an advantage to using one verses a standard incandescent type?

All dimmer controls are not created equal!  For example, Lutron makes dimmers designed specifically for magnetic transformers and others for electronic transformers.  For your lights to operate correctly, you need the right control!
