Can a 600w low voltage transforfer be safely mounted indoors with the low voltage lines run through the walls to the outside? If so, does the transformer need a GFICoutlet? Thanks

I get this question asked a lot.  Most OUTDOOR TRANSFSORMERS are not rated for indoor use.  That is because they need air space around the transformer to dissipate heat which is generated by normal operation.  Just be sensible about where you mount the transformer and put it in a location where it will not be in contact with paper, cloth, plastic or other flammable items.  And yes, you should always use a GFCI receptacle for outdoor electrical devices and lights.  We also have INDOOR LIGHTING TRANSFORMERS should you be interested in looking at those.  The same rules apply.
