hi there,i have an outdoor lighted snowman that i have inherited from my mother. i am replacing all of the electrical. it is pretty basic, just plug, wire and socket. my question is this, i sent my husband to home depot to pick up some 16 guage outdoor wire. he came home with 'carol 16/2 underground low energy circuit cable sunlkight resistant for low voltage outdoor lighting e54567-ln (ul)'. i have rewired hundreds of indoor lights, but no outdoor stuff. is it safe to plug this type of wire directly into a wall outlet? is it ok to use this type of wire with a standard 40 watt lightbulb set up? any help you could offer will be most appreciated.sincerely, kathy b

Do not plug that wire direclty into an outlet.

This wire is for low-voltage systems only, and must be used in conjunction with a low-voltage-transformer and low-voltage sockets and bulbs.

You will need PSJ or UF cable to plug into an outlet. You will also need to be very sure that your load is 110-120V. This project requires the guidance of someone with electrical expertise.
