Im having a room remolded and 13 recessed lights installed. The contracter want to put in high volt (cheaper) thant lowvoltage. What is the difference, is there buzzing with one vs the other, does high dim as welll as low etc?

LOW VOLTAGE RECESSED LIGHTS are more expensive than STANDARD RECESSED LIGHTS because of the low voltage transformer, trim and lamp. The big difference between the fixtures is the size of the lights, the performance and the adjustablility .

You should consider using both types for your room remodel.  Let the incandescent lights be your general lighting and the halogen lights for your accent and art lighting.  Both can be controlled with a DIMMER for mood setting.  It must be a very large room to need 13 lights!  Check out our GALLERY SECTION for some ideas.
