Lighting Forum Help - Discussion Groups

<< Back: Getting Started | Next: Reading a Topic > >

Once you have entered a major category, such as the "Landscape & Outdoor Lighting Forum," you will be able to chose among the more specific discussion groups in that category.  For example, the Landscape & Outdoor Lighting Forum contains discussions about Safety & Security, Outdoor Lighting Accessories, Fountain & Underwater Lighting, and more.

The appearance of this page is similar to the home page, and you are given many of the same options.  To continue exploring the forum, simply choose the discussion group that best suits your interests.

You may also notice the "breadcrumb" appearing just above the large blue heading.  This feature appears on all pages of the forum, and lets you know where you have come from, and where you are in relation to previous pages.

Topics within a Discussion Group.

Once you have entered a discussion group, such as the "Outdoor Lighting Accessories Discussion," you will now see a list of specific topics that are being discussed.  The icons in the leftmost, light blue column indicate a page icon if the post is new since your last visit.  The topic headings describe the subject matter of the discussion.  The replies column indicates the number of responses to the initial topic post or question.  The Author column indicates the name of the person who began the topic.  The Posted On column indicates the date and time that the topic was first posted.

You may search through these particular topics by entering a key phrase in the search box above the main discussion heading.  Note: while you are on the discussion page, only the topics within that discussion will be searched when you enter a phrase in the search box.  To search other discussions or categories, you must click the Advanced Search link to the right of the search box.

To post a new topic in this discussion, click the Post New Topic button directly above the breadcrumb.  You must have a user account and be logged in in order to post a new topic.  To read the posts of a particular discussion, click the blue heading for that topic.  (e.g. "Convert AC lamps to low voltage?")
