Can RLLD help a small town city park decorate its outdoor basketball courts with sport lights? You bet we can!
Every sport played at night requires light, and basketball is no exception. Even though professional basketball is an indoor game, almost every public park in America has an outdoor court for young and old alike. Often times games on these courts run well into the night, long after dark, and sport lights are a necessity for two reasons. The first is obvious. Players need to see well enough to play the game safely, and to make their shots. The second reason is protection. After dark, criminal activity will often rise in the neighborhood surrounding the park, and bright sports lights around the court will serve as both a deterrent and as an aid to observation that helps players and spectators see who might be approaching.Basketball courts in parks vary in size depending upon the size of the park itself and the enthusiasm that park patrons have for basketball. Smaller parks often offer only a half-size court, and many municipalities mistakenly assume that a standard parking lot light near the court is all that lighting requires. This is not the case. Parking lot lights are designed to distribute light in a different environment, and to diffuse it in a different way. Sports lights, on the other hand, are designed to specifically shine light in more concentrated amounts on playing areas and to create a field of brighter, more "compact" light in which to play the game.
RLLD has two options for basketball sport lights, both depending on the size of the court.
The first sport light package features two light poles that measure 25' tall, each containing a multi-tap ballasts ranging from 120V-277. This Techlight lighting package comes with two single Davits style mounting brackets and comes with two 1000-watt metal halide lamps. We can also equip these lights per special request 480-volt ballasts if necessary. These sport lights are easy to install and ship within 10-15 business days. They lights create two levels of illumination. One level makes it possible to see from any point on the outer court. The other level of sport lighting concentrates its intensity within the 3-point line, encouraging forward motion to the goal and making it safer to make running lay ups from the outer court, straight to the hoop.
Many larger parks feature full-sized, professional level courts that require more lighting than a two fixtures and lamps can provide. We have a sport lighting package for these facilities as well that is very similar to our half-court basketball lighting package. This sport lights package contains six 25' poles and also houses 1000-watt lamps. Made of tough galvanized steel that will not rust, RLLD provides it as a one-time purchase that will last for years. This many sport lights and accessories would cost a small fortune, but with us it is one fixed price and one amazing, bundled deal. The mounting hardware and base cover come included with the set, and the entire setup offers four different color options and anchor bolts to provide additional, fixed mounting. The photometric projection of these sport lights is precise and amazing. They concentrate the bulk of illumination on the center court and around each goal, making it easier to both engage the ball in play and make better shots from longer distances. None of the court is in shadows, however, so there is also plenty of visibility to run back and forth if the facilities manager sets up these sports lights correctly.
