Battery powered picture lights do give off less light than standard plug in models.

How much light does this lamp give? I am concerned about the ''disclaimer'' regarding its inability to give same amount of light as a plug-in lamp. What % less light does it give? Have customers been unhappy with the product in the past?

Battery lights just simply don't give the same quantity of light as those that plug in. We have not had complaints as most people who buy them simply don't have electrical power near the art. You should expect about 50% less light than standard models.

Thanks for the question and we look forward to assisting you here at Residential Landscape Lighting & Design. Call us at 800-239-2939.

Tell me more about the House of Troy 36" traditional incandescent picture light.

Please forward me spec sheets on your House of Troy 36" picture light.

The HOUSE OF TROY 36" TRADITIONAL PICTURE LIGHT is a great accent light for large works of art. The one shown to the left illustrates the 8" size and shape of the hood. The 36" traditional picture light has three mounting arms to support the fixture and uses (5) 25 watt or 40 watt tubular incandescent lamps. It comes in several finishes including polished brass.

I checked with the factory and they do not have a formal specification sheet on each individual light. What they do have is a PRODUCT OVERVIEW of the various models they offer.

I hope this information is helpful in your decision to purchase from Residential Landscape Lighting & Design. Give us a call toll free at 800-239-2939 if we can be of further assistance. Thank you!

Picture lights for lighting fine art in both traditional and contemporary styles.

Please confirm the best picture light width size for framed art size 56 1/2" WIDE by 34" HIGH. I want to make sure I order the correct width. I''m thinking House of Troy traditional, but do I need 42" long? That seems long? Please confirm correct width and Thank You!

Personally, I think the 36" TRADITIONAL PICTURE LIGHTS would be fine for illuminating your art. The chart recommends a 42" light. I agree that might be a little top heavy.

Why don''t you do a mock up using old paper towel rolls taped together. By holding it it up above the art you can get a visual as to what is the best length.

We also have a 40" SLIMELINE PICTURE LIGHT that you might consider if you prefer a longer light.

For the TRADITIONAL SERIES PICTURE LIGHT, I would go with the 42" light with 25-watt frosted lamps.

For the SLIMLINE SERIES PICTURE LIGHT, I would go with the 40" model.

If you are interested, the Slimline series can be customed fabricated to lengths up to 8 feet! Contact customer service at 800-239-2939 for information.

Have you consider a recessed framing projector?

Picture lights come in both traditional and contemporary styles.

I have looked at your different picture lights and see that the 14" Richardson picture light has an option of a switchon the frame. I am going to need 3 or 4 of these and would like to buy the picture lights that have the switches already on the light frame, if possible. Can you give me your expert opinion on which is the best quality for the most reasonable price? Thank-you.

All of our HOUSE OF TROY PICTURE LIGHTS have a thumb switch on the cord. What I do is staple the thumb switch to the frame, using a T18 staple gun, and them staple the excess wire. If you have a RECESSED CLOCK RECEPTACLE behind the painting this works well because the painting hangs flat against the wall. Personally, I like the TRADITIONAL PICTURE LIGHTS because of the variety of sizes and finishes or the CONTEMPORARY PICTURE LIGHTS.

Tapestry Lights, Lighting Wall Tapestries, Picture Lights & House of Troy

Is there a wide art light, such as the House of Troy Slim Line, that would wash a Burmese tapestry adequately? It measures 65" H x 77 " W.

The only way to light something that large is with two or more HOUSE OF TROY T-36" PICTURE LIGHTS mounted to the wall. In any case the light at the top of the tapestry will be much brighter than the bottom. HOUSE OF TROY COLOR CHART for traditional light fixtures.

Clip On Light, Battery Operated Light, Battery Light, Battery Picture Light, & Display Light

I have a couple of questions on a House of Troy HOT RT-8 battery operated picture light. How do you turn it on and off? What size picture can it illuminate? How accessible is the rechargeable battery?

The HOUSE OF TROY BATTERY OPERATED PICTURE LIGHT is really designed for small to medium sized paintings up to 18" wide. The fixture is mostly a big battery with a relatively small light source. The switch is located in the shade and it will operate for 6-8 hours before needing a recharge. If you don't have a plug near by the fixture can easily be removed and plugged in anywhere. If you are interested we also have CLIP ON PICTURE LIGHTS designed for art shows, music stands and temporary art lighting.

Contemporary Lighting, Picture Light, Cordless Picture Lights & Picture Frame Light

I have been doing some research on picture lights over the internet. I am looking for a small contemporaty picture light for my family portrait. What can you tell me about the House of Troy fixture?

The HOUSE OF TROY contemporary SLIMELINE PICTURE LIGHT is one of the best looking fixtures on the market. It is well made and has a very stylish mounting arm. The also make a beautiful TRADITIONAL PICTURE LIGHTING FIXTURE series in all sizes and several finishes including Brass, Chrome, Gold, Bronze, and Painted finishes.

If you don't have a RECESSED CLOCK OUTLET behind your art you should look at the BATTERY POWERED ART LIGHTS. They don't produce as much light as the wired models, but they are very effective and easy to install. House of Troy manufactures DIRECT MOUNT PICTURE LIGHTS and CORDLESS PICTURE LIGHTING FIXTURES.
