Built into my cabinets is a "see through shelf with fluorescenttube lights in them. The light reflects upward off the ceiling, but also downward through those plasic opaque sheets (think 1980s) I want to put a solid floor on that shelf and cut out round lite holes. Can I switch to bulbs or am I stuck using the wiring related to the fluorescent tubes.

You can install some PUCK LIGHTS in a new wood shelf and recycle the wiring if you can find a spot to hide a small ELECTRONIC TRANSFORMER.  The PUCK LIGHTS operate at 12 volts and will require the use of the transformer.  We do have some new 120 VOLT PUCK LIGHTS that don't require the transformer.  The other option is to go with 120 VOLT ROPE LIGHT that can be concealed in the cabinet to provide a nice warm hidden light source.
