I was wondering if the door switch had to be sunk into the jamb for the door to operate correctly and if so, what would be the best way to correctly mount it?I am concerned with the door opperation: can i just cut a rectangle out of the jamb and mount it that way, or will this have to be recessed into the stud? Thanks for all of your help and if you could send or direct me to installation specifications/cut sections, I would greatly appreciate that as well.

It should be mortised into the wood trim and stud to work properly.  There really aren''t any detailed instructions on this jamb switch.  Plan on doing some sheetrock repairs and painting if you are adding this after the fact.

Good luck to you and thanks for the question.
