I have recently installed ten 50 watt halogen lights in my kichen/dinner. They operate via a double wall switch. One switches on 7 lights via two fittings and the other switches on 3 lights. I want to install a double dimmer switch but the maximum wattage allowable is 400 watts. But I need a dimmer switch for 10 x 50 watts = 500 watts can you please advise if such a switch is available and from where. Thankyou.

If your halogen lights have an ELECTRONIC TRANSFORMER than you will need an ELECTRONIC RATED DIMMER CONTROL which has a maximum of 300-watts.  You can purchase a power booster if you want to exceeed that load.  Otherwise, if you are using a MANGETIC TRANSFORMER than you will need a MAGNETIC RATED DIMMER CONTROL which has a maximum of 1000-watts.  It too, can be used in combination with a POWER BOOSTER.
