converting garden post fixtures to low voltage

I'm hoping you can advise me on resolving a lighting problem. Several years ago a well-meaning, but NOT electrically savvy carpenter installed a decorative fence in my garden. He ran plumbing pipe hidden inside the top rail of the fence connected by T-joints in the 6 fence posts to support 6 traditional (not low voltage) arts and crafts style post lamps. He disappeared before completing the job. I've tracked down a new carpenter to finish the fence and I want to complete the electrical part of the job as well. I'm wondering if I can convert these 6 standard post fixtures (which I really like) to low voltage as I have been told it would be easier to snake low voltage wire through the pipe and T-joints. Please advise.
