UC Halogen 120VAC lights

I purchased Hampton Bay UC 120VAC (no transformer required) halogen lights to mount both under and on top of my kitchen cabinets. Only after tearing the packaging apart did I read that they are to be mounted under the cabinet only and not for top mounting. Nowhere does it say why but heat seems to be the likely culprit. Is there another reason for this? If it is the heat, I have nearly a foot of clearance between the cabinets and ceiling so would this be enough clearance?Thanks!RG

The most likely reason for not allowing upward lighting is the glass may overheat and break.  ROPE LIGHT is a must safer and easier solution to creating indirect lighting on top of your cabinets.  Just like the HALOGEN LIGHTS that you bought, ROPE LIGHT does not require a transformer.  And did you know that you can use a DIMMER CONTROL to set the intensity and the mood in your kitchen?
