I have 100 watt mercury vapor fixture. I want to light up 3 large oak trees. How far should the fixture be from the tree an how many should it have?

That depends on the viewing angle of the trees.  If you have a 360 degree viewing angle, you will need two, perhaps three lights per tree.  They should be located at ground level halfway between the trunk and the drip line for soft even coverage.  If the lights are in a lawn area you may want to go with a GRADE LEVEL MERCURY VAPOR UPLIGHT or if they are in shrubs, you should go with a 100-WATT UPLIGHT BULLET w/HUB MOUNT.  Check out our lighting GALLERY for more landscape lighting ideas.  Send us a digital image for design assistance and fixture specifications.
