I have two trees in the front yard that have dual bullet downlights using 60 watt PAR 20 bulbs - poor color and frequent burnouts. Thinking of going to 50 watt R20 mercury vapor lamps for more natural color and longer bulb life. Can I just swap out a Techlight fixture and ballast unit, or can I use the existing ballast and fixture? Are R20 bulbs the correct size (new home with new 20 foot trees)? Thanks -

I like the idea of replacing the existing incandescent bullet fixtures with our TECHLIGHT 50WATT MERCURY VAPOR DOWNLIGHTS.  Not only will you extend the lamp life, but you will love the color of the lights.  The extended glare shield allow you to adjust the mercury vapor tree lights towrds the house without seeing the light bulb or creating glare.  I always use mercury vapor tree lighting to create artificial moonlight illumination.  The soft shadows look very nice creeping accross the lawn.

I would recommend that you remote the ballast box for a cleaner look.  Hide the BALLAST BOX over in the bushes or out of your normal view up to 100'. You will need some 16/3 LANDSCAPE CABLE to complete the installation.
