I JUST PURCHASED & INSTALLED A HAMPTON BAY FLEXIBLE track lighting SYSTEM IT INCLUDES A 300 WT TRANSFORMER WITH 5 MRC16 50 WT HALOGEN BULBS, THE MFGERS REOEMENDED A LUTRON SELV300 DIMMER. THE HOME DEPOT WHRE I PURCHASED IT ONLY HAD A COMMERCIAL ELECTRIC BRAND #731=672 DIMMER. I WAS WONDERING IF THE HUMMING I AM GETTING WHEN THE UNIT IS TURNED ON IS A RESULT OF THE WRONG DIMMER OF IT IS COMMON FOR THE TRANSFORMER TO HUMM. ( WOULD INSTALLING A SIMPLE ON/OFF SWITC TAKE CARE OF IT?? THANKS FOR YOUR ADVICE

Yes, the humming is caused by not using the correct dimmer in combination with the electronic transformer furnished by the manufacturer.  We have the Lutron DVELV600 watt dimmer that will solve th e problem.  Putting in a regular switch will also solve the problem.

Ive Got the same situation but the dimmer youve suggested has four wires RED GREEN BLACK AND WHITE. My Switch Im replacing only has a Black and a White Wire NO "LEAD RED" and ground wired to the box. Can I join the red and white? what are my options? Ive got 3 pendants 50w and a 50w spot and theyre too bright without dimming PLEASE HELP!
