I am putting up a metal building to be used as an indoor riding arena. The ceiling height will be 22 feet. The area to be lighted is 120 wide by 260 long. Please tell me what type and spacing I should have for the lighting.

Your new horse arena sounds very nice.  I would take a look at our 320-WATT METAL HALIDE HIGH BAY FIXTURES for your lighting needs.

I would install three rows of HIGH BAY LIGHTING down the length of the arena spacing them roughly 30' to 35' apart in both directions for a total of roughly 28 light fixtures.  This will give you excellent uniformity and all the lighting you will need for both recreational riding, training and competition events.

Please contact Jeremy in customer service at 800-239-2939 for assistance in putting together a lighting package for your horse arena.
