At present my outdoor lights go on by way of timer 5pm through 11pm. I also am able to turn the lights on with the wall switch at any time. Can I use this motion detector in addition to what I now have so that if motion is detected after my timer powers off the lights will go on.Thanks

Sounds like you have some kind of override switch on your security lighting. Once you kill the power the MOTION DETECTOR normally it will not operate.  Now if you remove the timer and use just the motion light it will do what you want.  The RAB GOODNIGHT MOTION DETECTOR dims the lights down to 20% until it detects motion and then raises the lights to 100% for security.  This is a very nice feature that not only saves energy, but extends lamp life.
