Is your 150 WATT  TRANSFORMER capable of handling multiple runs. If so, how many? I'm planning landscape lighting for my home and as I do research I'm getting the impression that its often an advantage to have an additional run. What about the intermatic Malibu transformers? Which transformers can handle multiple runs?

Multiple runs are always a good wiring method for low voltage lighting systems.  Just because a transformer has one circuit breaker, that does not mean you can't run several wires from the lights back to the transformer.  In fact, it's a great idea to run multiple wires!

If you divide your total wattage (say 150 watts) by your operating voltage (12 volts) you get amperage (12.5 amps).  This is how you figure out how many wires and what size you need.  Distance also plays a major factor in determining the wire as well.  12/2 cable is good for up to 30 amps and 10/2 cable is designed for 30 amps.

Most TRANSFORMERS with circuit breakers utilize one or more 25 amp breakers depending on the capacity of the transformer.
