Can a 250 watt infra-red heat lamp be installed safely in this can light housing? The can is installed in the ceiling of my master bathroom and now contains a 65w reflector floodlight. I want to replace the bulb with the heatlamp, but I don't want to do anything that is dangerous. Thank you..

No!  The HALO H7 HOUSING is only rated for 150-watt maximum and the thermal protector will shut off the fixture to prevent a fire.  You need to install a proper HEAT LAMP FIXTURE to replace your existing recessed light to play it safe.

Thanks for asking the question.  Give customer service a call at 800-239-2939 to inquire about a single light that will replace your down light.
