One of my units keeps chirping despite changing the batteries. Am I able to disconnect the wiring on it or do I need to call an electrician?

The EXPERT recommends taking a look at the spec sheet for this product, which can be found by following this link: http://www.icca.invensys.com/manuals/Firex/110-1124.pdf.

It is always best to consult your local electrican.  However, the smoke detector can be removed from the base by pulling the small pin on the side.    Once the pin is removed, turn counter clockwise to access the wiring. This pin prevents the device from falling accidently.  The connector on the back of the smoke detector will simply unplug.
