I live in an area that has a community pool and parking lot for the pool. Presently we have seveal pedestal lights that illuminate the pool deck area. They are attractive lantern types but really do not provide enough light in the area. We are looking to beef up the lighting some. Our idea is to use the existing pedestals, remove the lantern and replace it with a double floodlight. This would allow us to point some of the floods into area that remain dark and into the paking area. We have our lighting set up on timers. Can you recommend any type of flood lights ideas that could meet our needs. Thanks.

I would be happy to assist you with upgrading the site lighting around your community pool and parking lot.  If you can fax a drawing or sketch of the area illustrating the existing lights to 713-863-0044 that would be very helpful.

One simple solution might be to install fluorescent or self-ballast mercury vapor lamps into the existing fixtures to increase light levels.  It really depends on the style and wattage limitations of the fixture.  There should be a label inside the fixture that will tell you the lamp type and maximum wattage allowed.

Other options include replacing the poles and fixtures with low glare, high performance fixtures that will  illuminate the area without disturbing the neighbors.  We have many styles of budget minded fixtures for you to select.

Please send the drawing or give me a call at 800-239-2939 to discuss your project.  I really need more information to properly assist you!
