I am beginning my landscape project and running into several problems. I would like low voltage lighting along each side of the house but the runs are too long. The right side of the house is 120 ft long with a total wattage of 420 (using combination of 20 watt and 50 watt bulbs). I do have a 2 line 600 watt transformer but with my calculation I am getting too much voltage drop. I am using 12/2 gauge wire (and the lamps I have only support up to 12/2 gauge. I have calculated voltage drops up to 2.5, and I would like a more even lighting appearance. Because the upper 68 ft is open area (no where to place a transformer or electrical outlet)with the greatest amount of watts applied to the system, how can I avoid this problem. I am aware of other design but none of which will handle my problem of the length of the run. I cannot change the gauge of wire since the light come with a box opening with the choices of 12-16 gauge wire. I have heard of voltage boosters and was wondering if that would solve my problem? If you have anymore suggestions please let me know.Second question- I see the color lenses for MR16 lourves. My lights all have a MR16 halogen bulb. Sooo can I use these light on my landscape lights although they are from a different vendor (each of the light have a different size lens cover so wonder how it will fit on both types of lights)?
