MR-11 with cover glass

Looking for replacement bulb(s). I have a MR-11 bulb in several Desklamps that are about an 1.25 inches in overall diameter. The bulb has an integrated lens (or filter?). I have other desklamps that use similar bulb with a separate glass lens which is actually a UV filters. I'm I to assume that this MR-11 bulb needs an integrated UV Filter/Lens? What bulb should I order?

All halogen MR8 lamps, MR11 lamps, MR16 lamps come with and without protective cover glass fronts.  Most low voltage halogen lights have a front lens built into the holder to protect you from flying glass should the lamp explode or shatter.  Othe r fixtures, which have exposed lamps, such as your fixture, are designed to operate with a lamp that has a built in cover glass.

If you contact customer service and give them the part number of your existing MR11 lamp, they can get you a suitable replacement.  The number is 800-239-2939.
