low wattage lighting

I'm trying to repair some outdoor lighting. Wire was cut but has been re-spliced in a few places. I think transformer may be bad/turned off. Power outlet serving transformer is hot but in checking with a multimeter below the transformer there is no reading (vs. readings for 9-12 volts on other lights and cables). I also had light sensor on and all other outdoor lights turned on manually. Any ideas? How can I check if it's the transformer and could I have messed up the transformer somehow? Thanks!"Stumped"

It sounds like you have isolated your problem to the transformer.  I would recommend that you consider purchasing a new transformer and wire to properly rebuild your lighting system.  Run the new cables from the lights back to the transformer and test the system before burying the wires.  We have some pre-packaged outdoor lighting kits if you are interested in starting over.
