low voltage lights-need for conduit

I'm building a timberframe and want to use low voltage lights on top of the beams for mood lighting. Do I neet toput the wire inconduit from the ttransformers in the basement to the beams?

I recommend using PHANTOM COVE LIGHTS on top of the beams for a soft indirect light source. Select the 10 watt Xenon frostred lamps spaced 6" on center with a 24 volt remote magnetic transformer.  As for wiring, you will need a couple of 12/2 or 10/2 home run wires from the top of the beam to the transformer in the basement.  Contact John in customer service at 800-239-2939.
