Barn Lighting - What should I use?

I have just built a 38’ x 60’ barn with five 12’x12 stalls along one wall, a 14’x60’ alley way (middle aisle), and five 12’x12’ utility bays along the opposing wall. The ceiling mounts would be about 12’ off the ground. What light fixtures would you recommend?

Sounds like a nice barn that you have built.  I would be glad to help you design and specify some lighting fixtures.

If you are looking for a fluorescent lighting solution, I would consider the RAB VAN3 fluorescent surface mount light with prismatic lens.  This will give you a good quality light source, instant on and off and save you energy over the long run.

If you want something more heavy duty, I would consider the RAB metal halide surface mount light with prismatic lens.  This will give you higher light levels and a long life lamp up 10 15,000 hours.

I would put one light in each stall on a seperate switch and then a row down the middle of the aisle for overall illuminations.  I will have a lighting representative contact you with additional information and costs.

Thanks for the question.
