Pool light

I recently had some re-wiring done of a pool light. The light is dimmer than it was previously (I would say by about half). The company that did the work can not seem to solve the problem. They tell me they get a 14 volt reading when they test the wire that comes into the pool deck. However, when they attach the pool light, they get a reading of 7 volts. The run from the transformer to the pool deck is about 120'. They have tied into the 14 volt tap, using an Intermatic Model PX300 tranformer (120 volt input; 12, 13 or 14 volt output with 300 lamp watts max). They tell me they have swapped out the transformer, have run a test line, and changed the light to try to solve the problem and don't know what else to do. Do you have any suggestions? Would it be worth my while to have an electrician come out to take a look at the work?

Yes, it sounds like you have a problem with the wiring between the transformer and the light or a bad splice connection.
