In my back garden, I have a low voltage 300w transformer powering about 14 lights totaling about 150-160 w. The power line from the transformer comes to a "T" intersection where one line goes one way and one line another way. One one side of the garden, the lights are bright and work well. The lights powered by the other line, however, are dim by comparison. I've tried re-working the power line at the "T" with new connectors at least three times, but with no good result. Also, the power line feels very warm (almost hot) to the touch near the T. Is this normal? Any suggestions on how I can fix the lighting so that I get a uniform light output from all of my lights?

The best fix is to run a new wire from the transformer and split the two loads.  Simply remove the T connector and have two wires going back to the transformer.  This will solve you problem and put this issue to bed.
