Our new entry hall will be 9'L x 4'W and have 9' ceilings. I was thinking of using cove lighting on only one side of the hall, figuring it can easily throw light across the entire 4' of ceiling. Do you think it will look odd having lighting from only one side? Would it be better to install cove lighting on both sides of the entry and have a throw distance of only 2 feet? Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

Absolutely you need COVE LIGHTS on both side of the hall.  Putting lights on one side will be unbalanced and will look very funny.  Take a look at our ROPE LIGHT KITS as a low cost solution.
