We are in the process of of building an outdoor concrete patio in the front of the house. We are also building about 200 feet of retaining walls which will be faced with the drystacked cultured stones. What type of lighting should we look at for placing in the retaining walls? How big should these lights be?(There is a 5-foot walkway in front of the house where there would be 2 walls, 30 feet long and 20 feet long by about 3 feet high. These 2 walls are separated by the front door entrance. This wall will also be very visible from inside the front of the house) Question #2.What type of lights should we look at for the stairs leading from the sidewalk down to the patio. Approximately 20 feet long by 7 feet wide?I have read that the strip lighting might not be the way to go since if one light goes out, all the lights go out. Would you recommend lighting the walls of the staircase instead, and if so, how big a light, and what type?

I would recommend using a series of grade level low voltage up lights to illuminate your stacked stone walls.  They should be placed approximately one foot back and three feet apart.  We have some nice step lights that would work or some low voltage rope lighting.
