I have a number of very large fir trees in my backyard where I would like to install flood type down lights. The trees are perhaps 150 feet high. Is there a type of light you would recommend? Also, how high up would you recommend mounting them?

I would use two 175-WATT MERCURY VAPOR DOWN LIGHTS with tube shields, per tree to create a moonlight landscape lighting effect.  The higher you go up into the tree the more effective and realistic the monlighting will look.  At least go up 40 to 60 feet!

You can also use a 175-WATT MERCURY VAPOR BOX FLOOD LIGHT mounted midway up the tree to illuminate the crown of the trees.  This is particulary effective when you can see the trees over the house from the street view.  It also helps conceal the hot spot created by the light source up in the tree.
