I have a pool in my backyard with a 3 ft wide side walk around it. There is another 3 ft of dirt around the side walk with palms planted every 10ft.(2 sides) Is it ok to put malibu lights spots on the palms? Malibu says dont put lights within 10ft of a pool.Really it would be 4 or 5 feet.

Any time you install lights around a pool it should have GFCI protection.  However, low voltage lighting is the best bet for illuminating the Palms.  FYI -National electrical code says that you cannot install lights within six feet of a pool.  Check out our pre-packaged low voltage lighting kits.
