Hi, first of all thanks for all the useful information on your site, I have found it extremely helpful. I'm interested in lighting the base of an oak in my garden. Due to the situation of the tree I have to mount the light directly to the trunk. I have read on your 'ask the experts' archive, that stainless steel screws are tree friendly and wont damage the tree in any way. Can you please confirm that this is correct as the tree has a tree preservation order (I'm based in the UK) and cannot be damaged. Thanks in advance.

I am pleased that you find our landscape information interesting and helpful.  Thank you for your kind words

Anytime you mount a light fixture to a tree it is considered a risk.  The stainless steel screws are the best to mount lights as they do not rust.

Depending on the limb structure of the tree you can use either a BULLET STYLE UP LIGHTS or a BOX STYLE UP LIGHT for more intensity and coverage. On the box flood you will want the 4-sided bug shield option for glare controls.
