Lighting a distant view

I just installed 2 1500 watt floodlights 30' up in a pine tree looking out into the distance as I wanted to look out at the view at night. All they seem to do is light up a small pear tree directly below the pine tree and about 12' from it. What will I have to do to achieve the look I want which is to illuminate a 60 yard view at night?

I am assuming that you installed a couple HALOGEN FLOODLIGHTS from what you have described.  Those lights do not have  the right kind of internal reflector to focus the light in the area you want.  I would suggest installing (2) 400-WATT METAL HALIDE FLOODLIGHTS and CUSTOM DOWN LIGHT SHIELDS to properly illuminate your landscaping and to improve your nighttime vista.
