I purchased a new dimmer switch at Home Depot and installed it. Everything seems to work fine except that the switch is warm to the touch after a few minutes of operation. Is this normal or an indication of a problem? Thanks in advance!

Some heat is normal.  I would guess that you purchased a 600-watt model and your lighting load is close to or over the capacity of the dimmer.  If you have more that 600-watts on the dimmer you will need to upgrade to a Lutron 1000-watt model.

You might check our FAQ's for more dimmer information.
