So what is industrial lighting design?
Industrial lighting design is the systematic analysis of your lighting requirements and the cost effective planning of your lighting system. Our photometric software helps us determine exactly how much light you need in every part of your facility, how many light fixtures you need, and where your light fixtures need to be mounted in a warehouse lighting project for example.
Do I have to pay for a photometric plan?
You only have to purchase it if you choose to buy your lighting fixtures from someone another commercial lighting supplier. Otherwise, the cost of the industrial lighting design plan is credited back to you and deducted from your equipment invoice total.
Is this photometric plan truly necessary if all we need is basic office and task lighting?
Absolutely. Without a commercial lighting design, you could very easily end up buying more actual light fixtures than you need and having too little or too much lighting as a result.
An industrial lighting design makes equipment purchase precise, cost effective, and truly efficient.
Do you need anything from us to create this plan?
We need blueprints of your building and any AutoCAD drawings of you existing lighting system. We upload this data and use it to not only map out your lumens requirements, but to actually render a 3D model of your facility as it will look with new equipment.
What level of quality can you guarantee if I do buy the equipment from you?
Everything we sell is made in the USA. We work only with the nation’s top industrial lighting manufacturers. The commercial decorative lighting products we sell are designed for maximum energy efficiency and lamp life. They may cost a bit more on the front end compared to imported fixtures and retail grade equipment, but they pay for themselves in the long run by using less power and reducing replacement costs.
The intention here is to shine more light on the room with less electrical usage. We also identify the best possible lighting angles to determine where fixtures need to be mounted. Once we know this, we will know exactly how many new office lights you need, what type of lights work best for your application, and where your electrical contractor exactly needs to mount them.
What if I have an equipment vendor already and can buy the same fixtures you recommend from them?
You do have that option. Just make sure your vendor really is selling you the very best equipment on the market. Also, make sure that your parking lot lighting system is fully warranted as is ours. We will still produce a photometric plan for you for a reasonable fee, and if your vendor and/or electrical contractor requires our assistance, we will also offer industrial lighting design consulting services for a fee.

To generate the correct level of industrial light, we must look at several things. First, we have to determine the type of facility we are lighting. If it is a new facility, we need to get an idea of what the tenants will be using the facility for. If they will be incorporating skylights, we have to make adjustments for a certain amount of natural lighting in the building.
If you are looking for lighting control, it helps us to know if you have already hired someone to install the lighting controls. It is also helpful to know the specific controls they are proposing. If you are still looking for someone to install industrial light controls, we can help you determine which controls will work best with our equipment and help you find the appropriate source.
If you are in an older facility, then the project is technically considered a retrofit. It helps us if you supply us with information on your current industrial light levels. A basic light meter can read this information, and any local lighting or electrical contractor should be able to come out and perform this reading for you.
Blueprints of your building are also helpful. If any overhead plans or AutoCAD drawings of your original lighting system are available, please send these to us as well.
Indoor industrial light fixtures should give your employees safe visibility in all parts of the building. There should be no dark corridors or corners anyone will feel uncomfortable walking—particularly in the evening hours. In offices and workstation areas, lighting must also be optimized for comfort so employees can perform tasks without eye strain. The same hold true for outdoor commercial lighting applications.
