Indoor Commercial Fluorescent Lighting Fixtures of All Shapes & Sizes!

What distinguishes lay-in fluorescent lights from parabolic fluorescent lights?

Layin commercial indoor fluorescent lighting fixtures are so labeled because they “lay in” to the ceiling and conceal the bulbs behind lighting panels that lie even with the plane of the ceiling. Lay ins can be serviced very quickly simply by removing the panel, and they appear almost a part of the ceiling itself because of their unobtrusive profile. These commercial indoor fluorescent lighting fixtures are ideal for any type of workroom such as a basement area, laundry room, or company kitchen. Lay in fixtures produce cost effective lighting in facility rooms where glare is not a major issue can be expeditiously achieved with any number of our lay-in commercial grade fluorescent for indoor lighting.

RLLD lay-in fluorescent lighting fixtures are maintenance friendly as well, so if a bulb needs to be replaced, it is not difficult to do so. The ballasts and lamp holders can be quickly removed and switched out without having to take down the fixture itself from the ceiling. This is partly due to housing end sections constructed of structurally embossed, 22-guage cold rolled steel and wire way covers that snap in for easy attachment and removal. All metal parts comprising indoor commercial lay-in fluorescent come pre treated with phosphate rust inhibitor and painted after fabrication to ensure long fixture life in damp indoor areas in humid regions of both the United States and Canada. Reflective surfaces are made extra bright with polyester powder finish coating on the interior of the housing. An important side note as well: the fixture also has several knock outs for installing wires into unit, so self-installation by someone experienced enough to work with wiring is simple and convenient.

Are there any drawbacks to lay-in fluorescents?

It’s not so much that there are drawbacks to the lights themselves, but they can produce glare that can lead to discomfort in environments such as nursing homes and medical waiting rooms. Parabolic fixtures work better in these cases. These commercial fluorescent fixtures are more suited to home and office use in environments where people have to spend considerable hours working under lights to perform essential tasks. In these situations, glare and flicker can cause eyestrain headaches and annoyance and lead to people being not only in less than optimal health, but also in an agitated state of mind that reduces productivity and forward motion. Almost all nursing homes now fitted with parabolic lay-in fluorescent are being challenged by communities and families of residents to spend the money needed on very necessary upgrades to parabolic indoor fluorescent lighting fixtures that will produce a more even, pleasant light conducive to rest and good care. RLLD supplies some of the most feature-rich commercial fixtures for indoor fluorescent parabolic lighting the market has to offer that offer specific benefit available through only manufacturer, commercial grade equipment.

Any Crew Working at Night Needs the Best Commercial Work Lights to Maximize Safety and Efficiency.

RLLD portable commercial work lights come equipped with 500-watt halogen lamps housed in weatherproof aluminum die-cast light heads.

Black powder coating finishes protect each and every one of our portable units, making these work lights resistant to inclement weather and occasional dropping and impact. This is important to outdoor crews working through all hours of the night who may occasionally and unexpectedly find themselves working in the rain, and who could not only suffer a loss of downtime from a shorted lamp, but also an electrical hazard. RLLD work lights offer the best protection against short circuiting with commercial grade, grounded electrical plugs fitted to a 15’ long 18/3 SJT 120volt cord set combining insulation and maneuverability. These lights are very easy to power on and off. The switch is located on the light head itself, and this makes it more accessible to a worker carrying materials that doesn’t have an extra hand, or even a moment to spare to fiddle around looking for a switch. Portable, commercial grade worklights can deliver more foot-candles per measured distances than cheaper retail work lights. RLLD commercial work lights produce a steady, solid 11,000 lumens with an expected bulb life of 2000 bulb hours in a widely varied range of working conditions.

In road crews and underground maintenance work, hands free operation is the rule of thumb for commercial work lights due to safety factors that require crewmembers to have both hands available at all times for tool and equipment operation.

RLLD tower work lights provide this security mounting on tripods with impeccable reliability. Porcelain sockets with spring-loaded contacts allow for shock absorption and simultaneous holding lamp fixtures firmly in place. The lamps themselves lie housed within tempered, shock resistant lenses that insulate the bulb itself with high temperature tubular silicone lens gaskets. This weatherproofs the fixture interior without compromising relamping convenience, as the halogen fixture that mounts on top of the tripod is a single unit in and of itself, included in the order, and requires no assembly of its own to function. The lamp unit features a 500-watt double-ended quartz halogen pre-packed in a protective cushion that makes installation quick and seamless and protects against inadvertent damage when workers have to setup lights in a hurry.

Our tripod-mounted commercial worklights are all UL listed as well, so companies and municipalities in humid areas like the American Gulf Coast can expect consistent and reliable illumination regardless of weather conditions.

For extreme conditions, we have dual lamp work lights mounted on towers that operate at 500 watts capable of lighting a 500 square foot area. Because commercial grade mounting offers great flexibility as well as firm and secure grip, worklights can be easily tilted up and down, sideways, and rotated 360 degrees horizontally and 90 degrees vertically. This makes them ideal for any road construction or civil engineering work that might require both a wide field of illumination above ground and a tightly focused beam of light into an underground structure such as a storm sewer or manhole that requires light for workers to safely enter and clean.

The Combination of the Right Fixtures, Wattages, Optics Level Reflectors, and Mounts can Custom-light any Baseball Field in the World.

We live in a small Mississippi town and tried to buy baseball field lights from another source. The lights fixtures have too many lamps and place too much glare on the kids. It’s a little league field and not as large as the ones in stadiums. What sent the lights back, but now we are unsure how to go to the next step in getting lights on this field.

RLLD knows that baseball fields vary greatly in size per location, ownership, and league status; we sell fixtures and mounting brackets separately. This is why we sell our athletic field light fixtures and lighting brackets separately. This allows towns like yours to decide exactly how many lights of and what specific intensities they need. These fixtures are extremely tough and can take a beating from the elements without rusting out or short-circuiting. Each fixture consists of a powder coated die cast housing with a formed aluminum lid that can endure greater stress from wind and ran that do fixtures made from inferior metals. RLLD baseball field light fixtures also come with tempered flat glass insulated by a gasket sealed with an aluminum clamp band. This better protects lamp bulbs and contributes to longer performance life. Adding anodized aluminum reflectors can do even more. Not only do these reflectors magnify lumens and photometric distribution, they also allow for field managers to precisely adjust the field of illumination by selecting any specific reflector model from Type 3, 4, 5, or 6 optics that best meets the needs of visibility and safe play. In order to ensure that these lights last not only for the duration of the season, but for many years to come, RLLD equips them with the very best multi-tap ballasts in four optional voltage levels. Superior ballast technology means greater energy efficiency, reliable lighting, and longer lamp life for baseball fields.

This ability to match feature to need to create personal benefit unique to a given situation is what RLLD famous as a lighting design, one shop supply house vendor. Small towns throughout America normally choose to buy from us because their little league fields don’t require as bright or as many baseball field lights as those used by the pros. In many cases only a few 400-watt baseball field lighting fixtures is all they need to light the home plate, along with one or two lights equipped with 1000 watt lamps and appropriate reflectors on either side of the baselines. Of course, professional ball clubs can come to RLLD was well, and one of our design specialists will help them configure their lighting system with any order free of charge. There is both a power saving advantage to this and a replacement cost minimizing factor as well. The combination of the right fixtures, wattages, optics level reflectors, and mounts can custom-light any baseball field in the world.

While RLLD makes it possible for any school, small town, municipal government, or minor or major league ball club to completely customize its own baseball field lighting array, we emphasize as well to all of our clients that we do not expect anyone to develop their own lighting design who lacks time and expertise to explore the subject. We therefore have a team of Experts who will answer any question in our online forum, and we will help any serious inquiries over the phone. Call 1-800-239-2939 today to talk to a specialist.

Outdoor Wall Sconces can enhance any exterior wall regardless of building style or architecture

Residential Landscape Lighting and Design’s selection of outdoor wall sconces is impressive to say the least, offering a countless array of styles, fixture sizes, glass types, and finish options that are certain to add an extra touch of light that contributes both to purpose and to effect around the facade of any home, office, church, or municipal building. Regardless of whether you are a design consultant contracted to decorate a client’s facility or a homeowner improving your own architectural lighting, RLLD has outdoor wall sconces that can fulfill your every desire.

I Manage an Apartment Community with gardens and fountains in the courtyard. Can outdoor wall sconces shine more light on the sidewalks near the fountains?

Yes, they can, and RLLD has several fixtures that will even help reduce glare by refracting light like a prism. This effect in turn can mirror the landscape lighting around the greenery and the water line. Furthermore, the vertical position of the outdoor wall sconce can have an impact on the field of illumination it casts below. Placing it well above eye level will cast a more even field of light on the sidewalk that is both safer and more aesthetic.

Have your maintenance team call us and we can help them with specifics on how to install the fixtures for optimal lighting effect, or email some pictures of the grounds and current outdoor lights.

We are a lighting design company that works a lot in the suburbs. Many of our clients are small family practice doctors and single-site attorney offices. What suggestions do you have for decorating these facilities with outdoor wall sconces?

Definitely you should use something a bit more than functional. Colored glass can change the mundane to the sublime almost instantaneously, and we have affordable price points on these fixtures just for design companies like yours.

Most offices such as the ones in which you are working consist of single-story, interconnected brick buildings and have either a surrounding wall or smaller walls that demarcate atriums and outdoor dining areas. By first differentiating each type of wall you are working with, it becomes easy to find a wall sconce for outdoor wall lighting effect specific to that area. Walkways normally require glare free white light for safety purposes. Atrium's obviously can benefit from green. Other colors can set apart to main entrances to offices or building foyers like gateways of colored light.

This looks really good as well for attorneys who are working out of a brick home converted into commercial space, and whose shingle can be highlighted with either white or colored light throughout evening hours as a form of advertising.

What can I do as a homeowner decorate my house with outdoor wall sconces?

That depends on your home’s architecture and size. If your home has a dominant facade with large front windows, you can place them between windows just above eye level. If your home has a front porch and posts, you might want to place sconces either far-end post if they are square in shape. (This will not work on circular columns). Alternately, outdoor wall sconces can be placed just inside of corners to outline the physical boundaries of the house, giving it more of an appearance of completeness late at night.

Residential Landscape Lighting and Design offers complimentary suggestions on equipment options, installation, and design to anyone interested in outdoor wall sconce lighting. Click here to read more about specific outdoor wall sconces we carry, and click here to ask an expert if you already have a picture in your mind for a lighting design proposal or upgrade.

Why do we need lights just for barbecue?

Because it is necessary to always maintain the right temperature and to always observe the color of the food items being prepared. This cannot be done in the dark, nor will it work with porch or patio lighting. Barbecue lights by Residential Landscape Lighting and Design offer a specialized light source designed just for outdoor cooks that put the food in better light for better results.

How do they work?
Two of the three lines of indoor/outdoor barbecue lights we carry attach to the grill. One newer line we showcase attaches as a decorative/functional piece to the wall.

Flex deck barbecue lights attach directly to a gas or charcoal grill and extend up and over the grill on a flexible mounting arm that the cook may turn vertically, horizontal, or diagonally twist to some degree in order to achieve exact positioning.
These lights come equipped with universal flex mounting clamps designed to adapt and firmly grip any type of grill, picnic table, or work area. They remain firmly in place when the grill needs to be moved, or when someone bumps it accidentally. RLLD’s high voltage barbecue grill lights consist of highly heat resistant materials designed to operate for extended hours of consistent use. An average lamp life of up to 2000 hours makes any number of models we carry an ideal, reliable source of all-night lighting for overnight cookouts hosted by major public events and festivals.

Low voltage barbecue lights offer the same benefits with power savings for the home cook foremost in mind.
They reduce power consumption and produce less heat for the personal home chef whose guests may be sitting near the grill and feel uncomfortable by grill heat compounded by lamp heat.

Telescopic mount barbecue lights allow for precise vertical adjustment to get the light just right over the top of the grill.
Due to the design of the lamp fixtures, they put the grill and food in a distinct circle of light. The telescopic BBQ mount design may be preferable to cooks using certain types of grills that are circular in shape, fixed in place, or lower to the ground.

Such designs require more vertical movement than horizontal and/or diagonal movements like those of flex deck mount barbecue lights.

These lights are very sturdy and built for the outdoors. They are made from heavy-duty cast brass and feature durable powder-coat finishes. Lamp life again is rated at approximately 2000 bulb hours.

There is no place like barbecue at home with wall mounted barbecue lights supplied by RLLD.
They attach to a wall or sturdy outdoor patio pillar and extend an elegant, tulip-shaped fixture over the surface of the grill and the food.

The simplicity of a single wall mount barbecue lights can transform the rudimentary into the elegant with silence that in certain finishes and light can even look golden.

This is often all that is required to change the perception guests may have of the host from that of “The guy who’s steaks taste great” to that of “The man who’s a man of the world, a man of wealth and taste”.

RLLD Outdoor Lighting Accessories are key to your landscape lighting project!

Outdoor landscape lighting accessories give you the ability to transfer client desire to project design without having to limit either with procurement difficulties or parts availability.

For example, a client who needs the convenience of timer-controlled outdoor lighting may want indoor as well as outdoor lights linked to the same photocells so that the entire residence will respond to changes in natural light levels. Photocells or light sensors that only work as accessories to outdoor lights cannot accommodate this clients wishes, and the client will more than likely choose another contractor’s proposal even if the invoice is higher because that contractor can accommodate desire without limitation. In another instance, a client might be cost-sensitive to some degree when he or she considers how an electrically powered timer can add up to higher costs over time. If you are the one contractor bidding a proposal that includes a powerless 60-minute timer, you will certainly make a strong and positive impression on this client with detailed accommodation of his or her concerns. Even small outdoor lighting accessories such as colored lenses and honeycomb louvers go a long way toward winning a final bid, especially when competing in the commercial arena. RLLD colored lenses are manufactured with a thorough extrusion process that places the dye so deeply into the plastic that it actually makes the lens a more heat resistant—and longer lasting—outdoor lighting accessory whose diminutive size can nonetheless produce a world of color for affect lighting of statuary, outdoor facilities, and water scenes throughout the night.

Electrical and Lighting Design contractors can find within our comprehensive inventory of outdoor lighting accessories a substantial offering of tools that allows them to accommodate the full range of residential and commercial clients they service. Every lighting design is different, and every client has individual preferences that at times might require the contractor to obtain special outdoor lighting shield accessories that cannot be readily or cost effectively procured from other sources. This is why RLLD strives to be unique in our industry as a comprehensive supply house vendor to service vendors. We understand that the needs of your clients are also your needs as well, and that the power of your proposal is often based upon the confident self assurance that any lighting design you itemize can be expeditiously and cost-effectively installed on the property with all the lighting accessories for outdoor landscape, accent, decorative, and security lighting necessary to exceed client expectations. Read How Christmas Stringer Lights can Save Lighting Designers and Decorators Overhead Costs and Improve Profits.

How can RLLD Christmas stringer lights reduce equipment costs and maximize service profits?
During Christmas, decorators are often asked to design a theme for each room that is original but still consistent with holiday tradition. Oftentimes, this requires buying equipment that consumes the profit margin, because the client has already specified a budget up front and the contractor must absorb the expensive of commercial grade technology if required by the design theme. However, Christmas string lighting by RLLD offers a very affordable alternative to expensive interior lighting equipment that can look both unique and appropriate to the holidays: Battery-powered Christmas stringer lights. Battery operated stringer lights run in tandem off of a single battery pack that can power up to 10 individual fixtures. Each fixture looks like a familiar holiday symbol—a fireplace, a campfire, a stalk of wheat. Any one of these makes an amazingly simple but very ornamental centerpiece to a dining room table. Ten of them constitute a lighting design for the entire house whose creative design reflects the true value of the artist that the customer will gladly pay upon seeing the results firsthand.

What about stores who don’t want to overdo their Christmas lighting? How can Christmas light stringers help them?
RLLD C7 Christmas lights and C9 Christmas light bulbs are perfect for department store, mall interior, and mall parking lot lighting. They look like the image most people have of Christmas light bulbs when they close their eyes and visualize a tree. As such, they are something of a universal symbol that affects the mind more unconsciously than consciously. Whereas more eccentric bulb styles may appear too avant-garde and distract shoppers from the visuals of displays and merchandise, C7 Chrsitmas lights and C9 Christmas bulbs, on the other hand, are so familiar that few people focus on them. What they do focus on is the merchandise that the bright amber, yellow, blue, and teal bulbs’ ambient light subtly showcases to attract a buying decision. Because they are made from a nickel base, they are equally effective for outdoor lighting in retail parking lots. Less is more when it comes to C7 and C9 string sets, and shoppers end up buying more because of the colors they create, not the bulbs themselves.

Just how much can a person do with an artificial Christmas garland?

Almost anything, really!

Pre-lit Artificial Christmas garlands give decorators and designers tremendous creative and expressive freedom both within and beyond the boundaries of room, furnishing, and Christmas tree. One pre-lit two color light garland alone can add holiday brightness to both indoor fixtures and outdoor settings alike. Half a dozen of these pre-lit garlands can bring entire outdoor areas hidden in shadow clearly to the forefront of crowds passing by to find the house that has the best Christmas lights. Featuring 300 lamps and 30-inch lead cords each, they can wind around porch pillars, gazebo railings, and trees in both front and back yards—tracing outlines in colors that are sure to get everyone’s attention and compliments.

Inside, they add color and a subtle touch of light to the foot of the stairs, generating a steady ambiance that compliments the flash of Christmas tree lights across the room. To make the staircase come to life even more, you can add one or more Kennedy pre-lit Christmas garlands that measure 108” in height and 14” in diameters. Let the leaves and lights wind together beneath the railings just under the handrail, leading human feet down the stairs with 100 clear toward the roomful of color below.

Artificial Christmas Garlands can also add a sense of light and nature to bookshelves, display cases, and the often-empty spot on top of the mantle. Lush, full, and durable, they look truly organic in the shadowy space above the fire. Our Black Forest Christmas garland package includes four 9’ artificial Christmas garlands that wrap unobtrusively around the base of religious candles and icons, compliment family photographs, and drape gently over the sides of the fireplace. Each garland features 14” tips that resemble organic foliage with a thick, lush design and comes pre-lit with 100 Christmas lights concealed at the base of the tips that radiate an aura of light from within from the foliage’s interior. This is perfect for use alongside a religious icon or seven day candle on top of the mantle, extending the candle light outward with 100 points of light that flow over the edge and drape over the sides with an aesthetic touch that blends balance with a realistic sense of greenery and life.

Decorators who prefer to use pre-lit garlands as their main source of Christmas tree lighting can use our multi-color bulb Sierra that measures 9’ in length and a full 14” in diameter. Two of together will layer the tree in a total of 200 lights that follow winding spiral paths from treetop to base, weaving in and out of the branches like living ornaments of greenery and light. Or, for an indoor touch of winter, use instead one or more frosted Colorado pre-lit garlands that feature tips that look like pine needles covered in a fresh coat of snow.

Pre-lit garlands and pre-lit artificial Christmas trees offer tremendous decorative benefit with return on investment because they light up décor year after year and seldom need to be replaced.

Can RLLD help a small town city park decorate its outdoor basketball courts with sport lights? You bet we can!

Every sport played at night requires light, and basketball is no exception. Even though professional basketball is an indoor game, almost every public park in America has an outdoor court for young and old alike. Often times games on these courts run well into the night, long after dark, and sport lights are a necessity for two reasons. The first is obvious. Players need to see well enough to play the game safely, and to make their shots. The second reason is protection. After dark, criminal activity will often rise in the neighborhood surrounding the park, and bright sports lights around the court will serve as both a deterrent and as an aid to observation that helps players and spectators see who might be approaching.

Basketball courts in parks vary in size depending upon the size of the park itself and the enthusiasm that park patrons have for basketball. Smaller parks often offer only a half-size court, and many municipalities mistakenly assume that a standard parking lot light near the court is all that lighting requires. This is not the case. Parking lot lights are designed to distribute light in a different environment, and to diffuse it in a different way. Sports lights, on the other hand, are designed to specifically shine light in more concentrated amounts on playing areas and to create a field of brighter, more "compact" light in which to play the game.

RLLD has two options for basketball sport lights, both depending on the size of the court.
The first sport light package features two light poles that measure 25' tall, each containing a multi-tap ballasts ranging from 120V-277. This Techlight lighting package comes with two single Davits style mounting brackets and comes with two 1000-watt metal halide lamps. We can also equip these lights per special request 480-volt ballasts if necessary. These sport lights are easy to install and ship within 10-15 business days. They lights create two levels of illumination. One level makes it possible to see from any point on the outer court. The other level of sport lighting concentrates its intensity within the 3-point line, encouraging forward motion to the goal and making it safer to make running lay ups from the outer court, straight to the hoop.

Many larger parks feature full-sized, professional level courts that require more lighting than a two fixtures and lamps can provide. We have a sport lighting package for these facilities as well that is very similar to our half-court basketball lighting package. This sport lights package contains six 25' poles and also houses 1000-watt lamps. Made of tough galvanized steel that will not rust, RLLD provides it as a one-time purchase that will last for years. This many sport lights and accessories would cost a small fortune, but with us it is one fixed price and one amazing, bundled deal. The mounting hardware and base cover come included with the set, and the entire setup offers four different color options and anchor bolts to provide additional, fixed mounting. The photometric projection of these sport lights is precise and amazing. They concentrate the bulk of illumination on the center court and around each goal, making it easier to both engage the ball in play and make better shots from longer distances. None of the court is in shadows, however, so there is also plenty of visibility to run back and forth if the facilities manager sets up these sports lights correctly.
