Toroidal transformers provide homeowners, contractors and lighting professionals with a heavy duty, quiet and efficient low voltage power supply.
Toroidal is defined as of or relating to or shaped like a toroid; doughnut shaped. So a toroidal transformer is device used to transfer electric energy from one circuit to another, especially a pair of multiply wound, inductively coupled wire coils that effect such a transfer with a change in voltage, current, phase, or other electric characteristic. The doughnut shape of the steel ring provides less resistance with translates into cooler more quiet running transformer.
Residential Landscape Lighting & Design carries many makes and models of
outdoor low voltage lighting transformers. Most of our transformer models are classic
magnetic power supplies or
electronic power supplies. The introduction of the 3able brand of magnetic transformers now rounds our our selection to include models with new state of the art technologies.
Cable transformers offer you a hard-to-find toroidal transformer that is made of new M3 orient grain silicone steel. This translates into a long lasting, dependable power supply that operates at lower temperatures and is much quieter than traditional power supplies.

I have a professionally installed putting green in my back yard that is need of lighting. We had a light in a tree that died and now we can't putt at night. What can you recommend?
Not every outdoor light fixture is designed for putting greens. Some fixtures create shadows due to the position of the light and the kind of light bulb that is in the fixture. This can be distracting and annoying to the golfer as he tries to line up for the putt. Our
putting green fixtures all address these issues and are approved by professional golfers.
Here at Residential Landscape Lighting & Design we offer a wide selection of line voltage and low voltage
golf course and putting green lights. Most of the putting green lights fall into the low voltage category and are quite easy to layout and install. Of course, every putting green is different and we are more than happy to assist you with a lighting design tailored to your needs.
My favorite putting green lighting fixture is the 120 volt
Focus Fluorescent Putting Station. This well designed light fixture provides excellent illumination without shadows because it is higher than most of our other putting green lights and yet is glare free from normal viewing angles.
The onboard drink, putter and ball holders make your putting experience a pleasure. Give us a call at 800-239-2939 or visit us online at

I recently purchased a horse farm in Kentucky. The previous owner did a great job of building stables, a paddock, and riding arenas. Unfortunately, they did not do a good job on the lighting. I am looking for some lighting that will mount on wood poles for an arena that is 100' x 200'. Our poles are roughly 30' high and are in pretty good shape. Do you have any recommendations?
Congratulations on the purchase of your new equestrian facility. You have come to the right place for help in improving your lighting. We have several horse lighting packages that would work for your arena. The
entry level arena lighting products have bolt on brackets and forward throw optics.
Our
commercial horse lighting kits include our metal halide sportliters that go up to 1500 watts. These fixtures are designed for larger arena such as your and will provide tremendous lighting for nighttime events. We also have
stable lighting fixtures and
exterior floodlights for
security lighting.

I have to submit this to the city and they need the specs, especially the part how it will be connected to a slab. We do not want to use the pole that goes directly into the cement. We want to attach it on top of the slab. The city needs to see what you are giving us to attach it, the weight of the item, so they can decide what type of footing. We would be buying the duplex receptacle, galvanized 4" pole.120V. 400W MH-MT (upgrade), multi-tap. Thanks. Cheryll
It might be easiser for you to consider a direct burial pole for your tennis court lighting project. Typically, poles are mounted to concrete footings which require an engineer's approval. That is what the city is looking for.
On the direct burial poles, there is a mark on the pole to indicate the proper depth and it makes the installation much easier. Your contractor should be able to help you decide which model is right for you.
Please contact customer service at 800-239-2939 as they will need to have a better idea of your court design and size to properly assist you. Our custom designed tennis court lighting kits include everything you need for a professional installation.
The duplex recetacle option allows you to plug in an electric blower for drying the court or a ball machine for pratacing. This option does require your electrician to provide both 220 volt for the lighting and 120 volt power for the receptacle. I would order two receptacles putting both on each side of center court.
We look forward to assisting you and helping you satisfy local requirements with commercial quality outdoor lighting products.

I purchased one Techlight PWPB3A, last year, and I desire bypassing the photocell. Do you have you a diagram illustrating the electrical connection?
Thank you purchasing our mini wall pack lighting fixture. If you want to eliminate the photocell, it will quite easy once you open up the fixture. The photcell has three wires. The white is the neutral, the black is the incoming power, and the red wire is the switch leg. Remove the photocell wires and connect the power supply to the black wire going to the ballast.
You can also tape off the photocell or paint the window black to lock the photocell into the on position. You will need a switch or otherwise the light will stay on all the time.

I am rebuilding a deck on the back of my house. The wife wants me to add some lighting top of the posts. What lights do you recommend that will be glare free and soft?
The
pagoda lights from Primelite have very large louvers which block most of the glare from normal viewing angles. They come in both incandescent or fluorescent models depending on your requirements. The operate at 120 volts and would need to be mounted on a 3" post mount flange. They come is all colors and are a good buy for the money.
Primelite manufacturers a variety of indoor and outdoor lighting fixtures. Those fixtures include:
Bollard light fixturesGooseneck sign lightsBathroom vanity lightsHanging pendant lightsPlease let us know if we can be of assistance. Our toll free number is 800-239-2939. We look forward to assisting you!

We operate a horse boarding facility that is in desperate need of new outdoor arena lighting. We have several large arenas and a couple of boarding stables that have very poor lighting. Any ideas?
We have professional lighting kits for large and small horse arenas. They can be installed on existing wooden poles or we have commercial poles in both direct burial and or those designed for traditional concrete footings.
For the smaller horse arena, I would consider the
basic arena kits or the
high performance luminaries for the larger arenas. These metal halide commercial grade floodlights have a type 3 through type 6 distribution and powerful 400 - 1000 watt metal halide lamps for higher light levels. Our lighting designers have created custom packages to take the guesswork out. We have a kit for both large and small facilities.
For the stables, I would install a
low bay lighting fixture as a maintenance free, energy saving solution to good quality lighting.
If you have questions or just want to discuss lighting for horse stables, horse arenas, horse boarding facilities, paddock or any equestrian facility, please call the professionals at Residential Landscape Lighting & Design. Operators are standing by at 800-239-2939 or by email at

We just purchased a new pool table for our game room. The lighting fixture we have is not adequate to illuminate the playing surface. Do you sell pool table lights?
We offer many lighting fixtures that would work well in a game room or billiard room.
Hanging pendant lights and
drop bar pendants are just a couple of lighting fixtures that you can use. I would try and select a fixture that produces very little glare and will hang below eye level.
If you select a fixture that has an exposed light source, be sure to use a frosted lamp. This will minimize shadows on the table from the balls. Also, if you select a fixture that has a frosted globe the surface will be shadow free.
If you need help selecting a light for your game room contact one of our friendly customer service agents at 800-239-2939.

I am working on a 30' Flagpole that is in center island of entrance to my subdivision. Electric is only available on one side of the road. Distance from mounting location and actual flag probably about 75''. Would this kit with spot bulb be adequate to get the flag lighted? Don''t want to over light the area because there are some homes nearby...Matthew
In this case, I would consider using a 300 watt feature light (spot lamp option) we have that is designed for longer throws.
You can put this light on a dimmer control to set the level and help extend lamp life. It would be a good idea to order a spare lamp as they are not always easy to find at local lighting stores.
