What is the diameter of your HALO H1499RT/1420P low voltage light on the object, say from a height of 4 feet with a LOW VOLTAGE LIGHT? Trying to figure out how many I need to put over my 6 foot bar. Thanks
That depends on the MR16 LAMP you put in the fixture. A spot for example, has a 10 degree beam spread where a medium flood has a 38 degree beam spread. I would put three lights over your six foot bar and use 50MR16/EXT spot lamps for distinct pools of light.
You can always use an LINEAR SPREAD LENS to spread the light in a linear pattern.

I want to get Rope Light around my deck perimeter and steps and was all set to get the 12V system since it seemed safer for outdoor use where it will get wet. However I see the 12V system only has a max run of 16 ft so I'll have to go with the 120V system for 150 ft run. Is there some type of junction box available that I could wire multiple runs into? I don''t think a regular power strip would work well outside. Is the pearl white color available in 120V, and if so, is that on sale too for $99 a roll? Thanks.
You should install a weatherproof junction box, GFCI receptacle and plastic bubble cover to plug your ROPE LIGHTING into. This is the safest way! The light rope we have on sale does not come in pearl white. Sorry about that!

The low battery signal has been chirping every 30 seconds since early am - I have replaced the battery (twice right from the package, so know battery good); yet the red CO indicator hasn't gone on and the chirping continues - clearly the battery isn't connecting and I notice that the battery does not appear to fit very snugly in the compartment. Also - initially placed battery in backwards (+/- poles reversed): could that have caused the continuing problem? Do I need to buy a new unit?
Yes, if you have replaced the battery and checked power to the unit without solving the problem, it is time for a new SMOKE DETECTOR.

TRACK LIGHTING is certainly one way to go for KITCHEN LIGHTING. I would prefer, RECESSED LIGHTING myself for a cleaner look.
You will most likely have to paint the ceiling when you remove the fluorescent light, so why not do it right. Either way, install a DIMMER CONTROL SWITCH for mood setting.

I have posts and empty fixtures that I want to wire for 12 volt lights along our driveway. The lights will be five feet off the ground. I want to use them for area lighting so they should be fairly bright. If we could get a transformer that could dim them that would be good but not imperative. Each fixture is large and could hold two sockets for more even lighting. There will be four fixtures. My questions: Do you have a socket and 12 volt bulb that I could wire one or two per fixture. It would be nice if they were fairly bright?Do you have a controller that I could use for either 4 (one per fixture) or 8 (two per fixture) lights?
We do have MEDIUM BASE 12VOLT LAMPS that would work in your lanterns. They are only 25 watts each and if you use multiple lamps you can multiple the wattage. However, if you are hooking up your OUTDOOR POST LIGHTS with a 12 volt power supply you need to do some math and CALCULATE THE VOLTAGE DROP from the TRANSFORMER to the fixtures. The most important component of any low voltage lighting system is the DIRECT BURIAL CABLE.
Thanks so much for contacting Residential Landscape Lighting & Design for your lightning questions. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you real soon. How in the world do you wire this door jamb switch?
Bring the hot wire from the power supply to the light fixture. Install one 14/2 Romex® from the DOOR JAMB SWITCH to the light fixture. Wire the hot or black wire through the 14/2 Romex® and the switch will either energize the light or cut power to the light if the door is opened or closed.
Instructions do come with the switch to insure a safe installation. Be sure to turn off the power before installing or contact a qualified electrician should you need further assistance.

Hi, I want to add two entrance lights to my house, which has a brick wall front. My local hardware stores tell me that I have to mount an electric box (1 5/8 inch thick) and then hand the light to that. I was hoping to mount the light flush with the brick wall. The opposite side of the wall is a closet, so I can easily install something from the inside. But how do I get a watertight flush mounted solution on the outside?
Our RECESSED STEP LIGHTS have gasketed louvers that will keep the fixture dry. As far as the wall, if you cut a tight hole and use spray foam to seal the unit, you should be fine.
You could also consider using a LOW VOLTAGE STEP LIGHT mounted on the wall which is 12 volts and only requires a small penetration of the wall to install. If you go this route, you will need either a PLUG IN TRANSFORMER or a TRANSFORMER WITH TIMER.

I'm installing a low voltage (12v) lighting system in my house and am looking for 12 volt breakers and panel boxes to hold those breakers. Any info you have regarding this system would be much appreciated. Thanks
We do not sell a formal 12 volt breaker box to speak of. We do sell REPLACEMENT LOW VOLTAGE CIRCUIT BREAKERS that can be installed directly on your transformer or in a custom junction box. We also have FUSE BLOCKS which might be easier for your applications. They come in single and doubles and can be hooked together to form a fuse block assembly.
All our LOW VOLTAGE LIGHTING TRANSFORMERS come equipped with built in circuit breakers on the secondary or 12 volt side of the transformer. This is for safety and protection as required by the National Electrical Code.

Do you have any ceiling fans that come with a light kit and remote. I am remodeling a room and want to add a ceiling fan.
We do have several
CEILING FANS WITH LIGHT KITS AND REMOTE CONTROLS from
CONCORD FAN COMPANY.
The Concord windswept 30" to 60" ceiling fan shown in the picture is a very good looking fan. It has a pewter motor enclosure and oversized cherrywood blades.
Concord uses precisely manufactured triple capacitors with U.L. tested and approved quality to insure and guarantee all fans not to hum or buzz.
All fans come equipped with three speeds-high, medium, low; and all of the fans are reversible to provide re-circulation of warm air trapped at the ceiling level during the Winter Season.
ALL Concord Fans and Lighting motors are covered by limited LIFETIME warranty, and all other components are covered by a 1 year warranty.

Actually, two questions. What is the total power rating - ie: 50 Watts? Is this rated for outdoor use - in the weather?
The SUNFLOWER LIGHT SCULPTURE is rated for wet locations which means it will work outdoors. As far as the wattage, it is less than 100 watts total. I am not sure to tell you the truth.

For the Blue Spruce I would use two or three 50-watt COPPER UP LIGHTS with flood lamps MR16 (EXN). For the tall trees in the planter use the same fixture with the 50-watt MR16 (EXT) spot lamp.
You will also need MOUNTING STAKES, TRANSFORMER and DIRECT BURIAL WIRE to complete the job.

I am wondering if the
HOUSE OF TROY PICTURE LIGHTS FIXTURE will illuminate parts of the wall, or just the painting that I would like to accent? The painting is hun fairly high and there are some equally impressive prints underneath this painting--if this will not do the job of having the light focus on the painting and add osme illumination to the other prints, could you direct me to a product that will. Thank you for your time
The picture light you have selected will illuminate the wall below the art. You might have frame shadows if they are in deep recessed frames.
If you have attic access, I would suggest going with a LOW VOLTAGE RECESSED ACCENT LIGHT. That way you will have less heat on the large painting from the light and also you can control the shadows and glare better.

Please send a specification sheet on your xenon under cabinet lights, so I can show my electrician or tell me how to pre-wire the kitchen. Thanks!
The XENON UNDERCABINET LIGHT you are looking at is a direct wired light. Have you electrician provide a 14/2 Romex® stub out at the center of each fixture. He should put one wire per fixture with each running back to a junction box either behind the refrigerator or under the sink. This is where he would connect all the wires to the switch leg and DIMMER CONTROL. It makes the installation easier if you one have one wire per fixture.

Hello. I would like to see if you can help me with a lighting solution . I have 6" crown molding mounted approx 3 inches from the ceiling in a bedroom. I want to place some type of light in the crown and make it reflect off of the ceiling (cove lighting) . I have about 64 linear feet in three sections (no connection between the sections; all 3 sections would need to be fed independently (or looped through the attic - approx 5 feet between sections ). There are some 90 degree angles that need to be accounted for. I want something that is dimmable, produces little heat, and produces enough light to make a nice effect on the ceiling (even in the daytime). I also want something that will last a long time. Before replacement. The light has to be bright enough to reflect off of the white ceiling (this is key). The light will be sitting on (mounted to) a continuous 2X4 that is inside the crown molding providing support. The lights will need to be white in color. Low voltage is preferred but not required. I would also prefer a whiter light (higher Kelvin) if available. The switch controlling the lighting will be in a std electrical wall box. Please let me know if you have a product that fits the bill and if so, what type of controller if any I will need based on my requirements. Please provide input based on my criteria, but please don''t omit any good solutions that may not fit the bill entirely. I may be willing to compromise some aspects for a better solution. The total cost of the solution should be $300 or less. Also, please let me know the lead time for delivery to Illinois. Thanks for your help.
You are set up for ROPE LIGHT. We currently have this product on special if you have a little time to wait for our delivery. Otherwise, you might take a look at our LED ROPE LIGHT which is in stock. Both will look nice at night, but neither will compete with daylight. Rope light is the product you need to fit your budget.

Hi. I need professional help... I'm looking to light up a 120' x 120' foot outdoor arena. I don't want shadows for the horses and I would like to know how many of these lights I would need for this space and how far apart to place them and how high up on the poles to put them. I also want to know if this is the best light for what I want to do (ride horses at night (& do some jumping). If you can recommend a better light, I would like to see it and hear about it. I'm not an electrician, I'm the owner of a small farm and I would have an electrician install the lights that I order. Please get back ASAP as I have the wiring set up but now I need to get the lights.
Please contact Aaron in customer service at 800-239-2939 for more specific arena lighting. You failed to mention how tall your poles are and where they are located. Once he has that information he can finalize the lighting design and prepare an estimate. The higher the lights, the fewer shadows that you will have.
Thanks for contacting us here at Residential Landscape Lighting & Design. We look forward to assisting you with your ARENA LIGHTING and adding to your riding pleasure.

I would like to replace the "yucky" Malibu lighting system that is at our lake house (it was was installed sloppy and is falling apart). I would like to do it myself. I have a couple of questions my husband wants to use solar. I am hesitant out lot is heavily wooded and we need the lights to be some what bright at night to see the walk way. I want to put them on a timer as well. I do not want the blue tint that so many of the neighbors have (to much like an airport run way). The "set" that the previous owner installed has two transformers (one with 7 lights on) and the other with about 10. I would like something that is user friendly that I can install, we will be doing renovation in about a year and will be moving them once the job is complete. The lighting now is plastic and broken they fall over daily (even though I restake them daily). Could you please recommend a system and explain to me if solar is an option. I can not find much information regarding this issue. I have seen that Hampton Bay seems to have a lot of problems (so I will stay away from that brand). I also want the lights to be sturdy we have wildlife in the area and I believe they are knocking the current lights over (all though I could blow on them and knock them over) so I need something that replace parts/bulbs are easily attainable. I thank you for any advise you can give me so that I can may make a knowlegable decision.
I would stay away from solar pathlights as they produce very little light. You should install a low voltage lighting system that consists of PATH LIGHTS for the walk ways and MR16 SPOT LIGHTS for trees and shrubs. You will need DIRECT BURIAL CABLE and TRANSFORMER with timer to complete the system.
Check out our LIGHTING INFORMATION PAGE to learn more about designing a system.

I would to see larger picture of your xenon task lights. Can they be hard-wired and on a dimmers? Why is xenon preferable? What lengths should I purchase?
This is biggest picture we have. The AMERICAN LIGHTING XENON UNDER CABINET LIGHTS are some of the best values on our web site. They are well made and do a great job of task lighting in kitchens. You can get them in a brushed stainless stell to match your kitchen. They can also be dimmer with standard DIMMER CONTROLS.
The xenon lamps do not require a transformer and can be touched with your fingers unlike halogen light bulbs. You won't go wrong buying this fixture. Reports from our customers are all good!
Please let us know if we can help you layout the fixtures and decide on lengths. It is best to place the fixtures over the work areas if possible.

Why don't you give customer service a call at 800-239-2939 and they can build you a fluorescent lighting kit. I have a smoke detector that is 10 yrs old and needs to be replaced and I would like to try to locate one like it if not the same to where don''t have to change out any wiring or anything. The type I have is a (Firex smoke alarm 120-538 Model AD,120 vac,60 HZ,AC single and /or multiple station smoke alarm with 9 volt backup). This was all the information I could see on my old detector, would appreciate any help could give.
Most smoke detectors have either a two or three wire plug in adapter. The old two wire devices are simply a hot and neutral wire. The new three wire devices have a red wire for interconnecting multiple devices into a system. That is required by code for new homes.
Either way, the wiring is quite simple and as long as you turn off the breaker before starting. You will be amazed at how advanced these detectors have gotten in ten years. Heck, they even talk to you ans well as sound an alarm

I have a couple questions. I'm installing 4 puck lights inside a cabinet and I want to install them recessed, how do I do this? The instructions seem to steer me to remove the upper plastic casing, is this correct?, and how do I do it? Next question, I have 2 long runs that traverse a microwave and a window, can I splice the wiring so I don't have the connectors in these areas that I can't easily get to once construction is finished?
Some PUCK LIGHTS are designed for recessed use. If the instructions you have indicate that your puck lights can be recessed they should just snap apart. Using a hole saw you can countersink the lights if your shelves are thick enough. The instructions should cover that.
You can certainly extend or splice the wires with small wire nuts or end butt crimp connectors.
Hope you enjoy your new puck lights and please visit Residential Landscape Lighting & Design again if we can be of further assistance. 800-239-2939.

My Lamp post is designed for both electrical or gas - can you tell the approximate difference in cost to operate the lamp with gas rather than with electric? Is it more or less expensive operating gas?
That depends on the wattage lamp you use and the type of light source you select. A fluorescent light source would be the least expensive to operate where an incandescent light source would be the most inefficient.
GAS LIGHTS are very beautiful and charming to look at but they don't provide SECURITY LIGHTING. So, if you want good useful light, go with the electric option. If you want to create a mood, go with a GAS LANTERN.
Thanks for asking the question. We look forward to assisting you here at Residential Landscape Lighting & Design. Just give us a call at 800-239-2939 if we can help!

The RAB QF150 HALOGEN FLOOD LIGHT is designed for wet locations. It is always a good idea to drill a weep hole in the bottom of any OUTDOOR LANDSCAPE LIGHTING FIXTURE to allow moisture and or water that may enter the fixture to drain.
You can add a PHOTOCELL on the junction box or where the power originates.

Would the Lutron Radio Ra dimmer switch work with Homelink buttons that are used in automobiles?
Yes, in combination with certain components in the RADIO RA WELCOME HOME PACKAGE. The car visor can be learned to the homelink buttons just like the garage door opener. However, you still need the Radio Ra interface to communicate the signals.
