I have eight
Techlight Tennnis Court Lighting Fixtures installed in my Tennis Court and I am interested in getting a Token Operated/Activated device to switch on these lights for periods of one hour and more. Can you help me source one. The fixtures are 1000 Watt each and operate on 120 Volts
Sure, not a problem. We don't have a coin operated system, but here is how you can control the lights from the house or mechanical room manually. The way to accomplish your goals is to use a WALL MOUNTED TIMER in conjunction with a LIGHTING contactor.
The timer controls the coil on the contactor which transfers the load to the contactor. Each pole on the contactor is rated for 40 amps. So, if you have 8 circuits you would need two four pole contactors mounted at the electrical panel. The same wall mounted timer could control both coils at the same time. The contactors should be installed inside a NEMA1 junction box for indoor locations and a NEMA3 JUNCTION BOX for outdoor locations.

The TECHLIGHT LV900M MUTI-TAP TRANSFORMER has 12, 13, 14 15, and 17 volt outputs. If you need something higher they also make another model that has a 20 and 22 volt output.
If you need that kind of voltage you must be installing the lights a great distance from the transformer. You might consider using larger DIRECT BURIAL WIRE to accommodate your voltage drop. Check out the FOCUS HIGH VOLTAGE TRANSFORMERS that go up to 21 volts!

This particular CONCORD CEILING FAN only comes in oil rubbed bronze. The blades for this ceiling fan come in cherry wood or a bronze to match the fan.

By using a special 12 VOLT MEDIUM BASE LIGHT BULB you can connect any wall sconce to your low voltage lighting system. As long as the fixture has a medium base socket and you have 12 volt power going to the light, you are in business.

I have a 120 X 150 elliptical shaped arena. It's a 120' round pen stretched 30' in the middle. If set 25' high, how much area will a single 400W
MHL fixture cover? I'm looking for adequate light, not "high noon".
The HORSE ARENA LIGHT mounted on a 25' pole will light about a 60' area. For your size arena I would consider using four poles with two lights each. This will give you a very nice light level without asking too much from each fixture. This will help prevent glare and give you nice uniformity.

Hi, we just moved to a new house and want to add some basic low voltage lighting around the flowerbeds. The problem is the only outlet we have is located on the porch, we don't want to have to run the lights from an extension cord, or have the box sitting right by the door. Is there anyway we can add an outlet that will be more in a hidden location? Who would I call to do such a task? How would it be done? My husband is very familiar with electricity, but we want it done right. Thank you for your help
The best way to address your problem is to add a new receptacle on the front of the house. I agree that it would look tacky on the front porch. Any electrician can install a GFCI protected outlet for you or your handy man. It is really quite simple. Locate an indoor receptacle that you can tap into from the outside. Of course, turn off the circuit breaker if you decide to have your husband do the work.

Is your jamb switch device low voltage only? (as per
Edwards 46-that is you remark) --what is the difference?
The EDWARDS 44 JAMB SWITCH switch is designed for low voltage applications only. That means it must be used in combination with a LOW VOLTAGE TRANSFORMER and LIGHTING CONTACTOR with a low voltage coil. The low voltage switch does not require a junction box like it's line voltage counterpart.
You can however use the EDWARDS DOOR JAMB SWITCH for any application that calls for a line voltage door jamb. The splice box or junction box cover can be mortised into the door jamb for a flush finish.

I have a long hallway and would like to install two, three or four motion detector switches to operate overhead fluorescent lights. I would like to know: 1. You can most certainly install the WSD - MOTION DETECTOR SWITCH in you hallway in multiple locations. You only need one at each end and other can be bypassed so the lights don't accidentally get turned off. So, if you have a three way or four way system, it will work fine.

I am in the process of having a 6 foot china hutch built with glass doors. Would the xenon pucks work in this type of curio cabinet or would they produce too much heat?
Xenon pucks lights would work well in your application because they are low wattage lights. We have xenon puck lights available from American Lighting that can work to fit your needs.

Which Panasonic exhaust fan is listed to be used as an exhaust fan over a stove?
All exhaust and vent fans are designed for removing stale air and odors in bathrooms, laundry rooms, showers and kitchens. PANASONIC makes a few different models that may be used in a kitchen depending on the mounting location: PAN FV-05VF1, PAN FV-09VF1, PAN FV-11VF1. Most of these fans are not designed for use directly over a cook top with the exception of the PANASONIC FV-08VQ3.

I'd like to replace the outdated red heat lamps mounted in the ceiling with a new exhaust fan. What's the best way to pipe out the exhaust up in the attic? I don''t want to have to put a new hole in the roof or the under the eaves if I can avoid it. Thanks!
You can simply run a flexible duct from the VENT FAN over to the exterior soffit vent. I am assuming your home has screened soffit vents around the house. This will be good enough to remove the stale air from the bathroom.

Several yrs. ago I had
up lighting put in my 50' oak trees. It's so bright up there I'd like to tone it down but never thought about changing fixtures till now. I have 3 of the 175
mercury vapors in each of the 2 trees, the fixtures are about 12' up. If I downsize the wattage, can I use the same bullets? Should I use lesser wattage lamps & how far the will the light distance reach? Any other suggestions will help too, Thanks!
You can do two things to tone down your existing MERCURY VAPOR LIGHTING FIXTURES.
Go to the hardware store and purchase a small roll of brass window screen. You will need enough to cut round disks that you can install inside the fixture between the lamp and the lens. I would start with three layers of screen Add or subtract disks to fine tune the intensity to your taste.
Your other option is to change the MERCURY VAPOR LAMP and MERCURY VAPOR BALLAST for each fixture, going to a 100 watt R40 size. You can't change one without changing both.

I can envision something roughly 24" to 30" in diameter depending on the size of your room. You certainly don't want something that will overpower the room.
It would also be a good idea to put the switch leg on a GFCI protected circuit for safety.

I am putting up a metal building to be used as an indoor riding arena. The ceiling height will be 22 feet. The area to be lighted is 120 wide by 260 long. Please tell me what type and spacing I should have for the lighting.

This light when in the heating position turns off after a few minutes of blowing warm air, and it turns back on by itself for a few minutes and then turns off again. I can hear something that sound like a switch turning off and on. My guess is it must be the heating element. Can I get some help? I'm looking for a schematic diagram and where to buy a replacement heating element (if that's the problem). Thank you!
Sounds to me like the thermal protector is doing it's job in your NUTONE QT9093WH HEATER. When the heating unit gets too hot, for safety reasons, the unit is supposed to shut down. Once it cools off, it should come back on as you have described.
This could be caused by several things. I would start by cleaning out the unit of any dust or lint that has accumulated. If that doesn't do it, I would remove the heating element and get the model number off the nameplate. This is the number, not the actual model of the unit that we will need to find you a REPLACEMENT NUTONE HEATER ELEMENT.

I bought a new house which already got 2 600 Watts Malibu transformers, one for the front and one for the back landscaping. One of the transformers makes a loud humming noise even after disconnecting the wires for the lights. It works perfect, except the noise. Is there something I can do with the transformer itself or do I need a new one? Thanks.
Unfortunately, buzzing is a common thing for low voltage lighting transformers. I would wait till it fails or replace it if you are bothered by the noise.

Can I put two 12V transformers on one lighting circuit to increase the capacity? I have a single 150W transformer, and want to add a few more lights on that circuit - without having to run another long run of wire - or go buy a larger transformer (I have another 150W already).
Not a good idea to connect the two TRANSFORMERS together. You can however split you outdoor lights into two separate systems and utilize both transformers. Be sure you have at least a 14/2 DIRECT BURIAL CABLE or preferably a 12/2 CABLE. You can only put 150 watts of light on a 14/2 and 300 watts on a 12/2. We have a roller derby track demarcated on the floor with clear/white rope lights, but need a clear threshold-type molding to go over and/or around the round rope lighting so that we skate OVER the rope lights instead of trip and fall. Suggestions?
Our vender of ROPE LIGHT does not make a threshold trim for their products. Frankly, rope light is not really the right product for your application. I know it is cheap and easy to use. However, it is not designed for rough service and could be damaged by the skates.
In movie theaters they use a product like ROBERTS STEP LIGHTS which is lower profile and can take the abuse. They offer threshold trims and special extrusions designed to protect the lighting and hold it in place.

Does this magnetic transformer have one circuit or two?
All SEBCO MAGNETIC TRANSFORMERS have buit-in circuit breakers for the secondary side. The maximum breaker size per circuit is 25-amps. The one in the picture has two.

Well that depends on what you are doing in this room. I assume by your description that we are taking about a room that is 50' x 50' or 2500 square feet.
If that is the case, I would mount the PARABOLIC LAY-IN LIGHTING FIXTURES in rows approximately 8' to 10' apart in a uniform pattern. This will give you a tremendous light level for just about any task.

I have under cabinet lighting from home depot. they require a 120v/20w halogen bulb. the pin spacing is about 7 mm. will the al lhc35b-bp (10-pk) fit?
Yes, the AL HALOGEN LAMPS will work in your fixture. The pins on this lamp are different than those that operate at 12 volts. This is so you don't install them in the wrong fixtures.

Our 20 year old custom built home has Lightolier recessed lighting fixtures with thermal protection units.A few of the units turn off the lights after being on for 6 minutes then go back on after 2 being off for minutes. The fixtures have 75W bulbs. The fixture rating is 150W. I tried 50W and they stay on 9 minutes then go off for 2 minutes. This behavior is unacceptable. I pulled the fixtures out of the ceiling and found that the junction boxes have a black rod that sticks out the side and gets fairly hot to the touch. When the lights go off, there is a click sound from the junction box. There is no insulation near them at all. I am an electrical engineer. What should I do? Thank you.
Time to change the thermal protectors or replace the LIGHTOLIER FIXTURES. It sounds to me like your thermal detectors are the problem.
You can purchase some LIGHTOLIER #1003R REMODEL HOUSINGS and use the parts cheaper than you can buy a thermal protector by itself. This is what I would do.

I have several different topics. Here goes. I have an outdoor grass riding area measuring 500' X 280'. We wish to light it up enough for safe night time riding, not shows. I have buried conduit (1 1/4") around the perimeter with irregular access every 72 ft or so. I have not purchased any poles. I can run 240 V from the service box. I am worried that perhaps the conduit is not large enough if I purchase inefficient lamps. My questions are: Best pole height and spacing? Recommended lamps to buy? 2) I wish to light up a parking lot (65 ' X 65') and adjacent horse paddocks (70' X 110'). Low level lighting is OK, just enough to work at night. I have one pole set for each area, 20 ft. 240 V is available. Recommended lights, type and size? I need security lights in this area as well (motion activated). I am thinking of 240 V HID for the general lighting and halogen lights on the same pole for the security lights. Is this overkill? Is there a way to use the HID lights for security lights with the more rapid start up the 240 V affords? Thank you for your help.
It sounds to me like you have the necessary conduit and electrical provisions for a successful installation. The size of your area almost certainly requires 30' poles and 1000 WATT COMMERCIAL GRADE FIXTURES. You will want to consider forward throw optics to minimize glare.
For security lights, I would consider the 1500 watt HALOGEN FLOODS. We have 240 volt lamps in these as well.

I am having trouble calculating the length of the arm I need for the PRI 20-850 series. I need it to light an awning which is 13'' across and 60" top to bottom and extends out 36" thank you for any help you can give.
If you are concerned about the arm length, I would take a look at the ABOLITE LSI ADINC GOOSENECK SIGN LIGHT. There are many different mounting arms to choose from in all shapes and sizes.
For your size canopy, I would go with three lights equally spaced. The should project out approximately 24" to 32" to prevent hot spots and produce a uniform wash of light.

I am looking fo a recessed lighting for a remodel. I want small size of 4 inch. It must be insulation contact. So far I can only find it in a larger size that has the IC rating and remodel. Thanks!

For a fan that old you would be better off buying a new complete replacement unit so that you could get the right motor, squirrel cage and have a new front cover plate as well. The front cover tends to discolor over time from the heat lamps. Hope this helps!

Hello, hope you can help me out. I'm looking for suggestions on dimmable accent lighting. These lights will be place in small kitchen cabinets with glass doors. I'm looking for something that's dimmable and needs no transformer. I'm thinking clear 1/2" rope lighting, but the LED aren't dimmable. Any suggestions? Been getting quotes from electricians for puck lights, but I feel the cabinet area is too small and they burn too hot. Please help!
Standard incandescent ROPE LIGHTS are perfect for lighting cabinets. They require no transformer and can be dimmed with a standard DIMMER CONTROL SWITCH. Hiding the power cords can sometimes be tricky. I would go with the rope lighting.

I am designing a portable indoor/outdoor lighting for a dance group.I need eight channels covering 20''deep x 35'' wide area floor to head height. ceiling height 8'' to 10''. I am planning to use 36 degree 50W mr16''s. two towers, two lamps per tower for each channel, positioned no more than 15'' from the closest portion of our dance area. LV is requisite because outdoors we have to rely on generator power and indoors we need to utilize no more power than would be available from a standard duplex circuit. recap is 4 channels, 200W per channel, 16 instruments total. I know that the lumen won''t be anywhere near what I could attain with 120v par38 or par64 instruments, but in one or two words, am I on the right track?

I installed a motion sensor floodlight. It comes on & stays on only a few seconds, Even in the 4 & 12 min. settings. My walls & ceiling are both white. What could be wrong?
It could be defective unit or it might be picking up reflected light from the wall and the built in photocell is turning it off. Have you tried adjusting the MOTION SENSOR pointing away from the wall where it will not get any reflected light? I suspect this is the problem.
