Can I repair my Malibu lighting transformer if it stopped working?

I have a Malibu ML88T, it now seems to stick at the trip point. Is it possible to open up and lubicate the unit? What do you suggest that one somewhat handy could accomplish? Thanks

It is not easy to get inside the housing, but it can be done. My guess is that the gear is slipping on the shaft causing it not to operate properly. Might be time for a new Malibu transformer!
