Using grade level mercury vapor up lights to illuminate a tree.

How do I install 120V well light to illuminate a tree? I''m choosing 120V vice low voltage since the trees are far from the house. Is there a junction box / stake that I need? Any other material that I need? Any information would be appreciated.

For up lighting trees with WELL LIGHTS I like to use an above grade junction box or ballast box to prevent water from siphoning into the fixture through the wire.

MERCURY VAPOR WELL LIGHTS are the best for lighting trees due to the color they produce. 100 watts is usually plenty of light for a medium sized tree or perhaps two fixtures if the tree is large. The ballast box can be located a maximum of 100' away from the tree. Be sure and install a pea gravel base below the fixture for drainage.
